Hello, Friends. How was your weekend?
Saturday afternoon when the mister returned home from work, we headed out to spend the entire evening strolling around Old Town. Our Old Town is full of lovely restaurants and adorable boutique shops and thrift stores and is one of the perfect ways to spend a fall afternoon.
It was really, really lovely. We were able to enjoy our early dinner on the patio, we thought we should definitely eat outside since winter will be upon us soon enough. Then we visited all of our fave shops and enjoyed walking around looking at all of the holiday decor.
Each year Eben is given a bird ornament as a gift, since he has a deep love and appreciation of birds. While visiting all of the decorated trees at our local home and garden boutique, Eben chose to spend his entire allowance on a bird ornament. It is adorable and now every night he wonders aloud when we will be getting out the holiday decorations so he can see his other birds.
When we left the boutique, the mister giggled and handed me a box. Come to find out while I was helping Eben decide on bird ornament, the mister was picking out a beautiful handmade necklace and a pair of earrings for me, just because. This is one of the reasons that I love him so much, he does things ‘just because.’
While looking around, I found the perfect little gift for Eben. At his school the 3rd grade students have started to journal and he is completely into it. He came home a few weeks ago and told me all about it and wondered if he would ever have his own journal to write in at home. It immediately went on my list and I found the perfect one for a boy, it is covered with different types of dogs. I am so excited to watch his face as he opens it.
All in all, it was the perfect afternoon. It was so nice to walk around in the cool crisp evening, see the twinkling lights strung through every tree, hold the hands of my two favorite people, support my local community and enjoy a bite of a fresh, warm sugar cookie directly from the oven on our way home.
Does your town have an Old Town?
That’s beautiful! It’s so nice that a family can do that now and days 🙂
I would love to see pictures of the necklace you got, the bird ornament and the journal!!
Hi The Eclectic Element,
It was a lovely evening. I will try to post some pics of the items on the Facebook Fan Page.

So great! Our little historic downtown is awesome too. We have a university here in my city and that helps to keep things pretty vibrant. There are a few more empty spaces currently though due to the economy.
