Hello, I’m Jennie Lyon—so nice to meet you!
I’m a professional green lifestyle writer and the founder of Sweet Greens, an award-winning eco-lifestyle blog where I share practical tips on sustainable living, green parenting, and eco-friendly DIY projects. Since launching Sweet Greens in 2009, my goal has been to inspire families to live greener, healthier lives through simple, actionable changes.
Over the years, I’ve contributed to several well-known brands and publications, including Cascadian Farm, Applegate Farms, Inhabitots, and Green Child Magazine, focusing on sustainable living, recycled crafts, and family-friendly green solutions. I’ve also worked with companies like Stonyfield and Target, helping to promote eco-conscious initiatives and improve healthy living habits for families nationwide.
Beyond my passion for sustainability, I’m the founder and CEO of Jennie Lyon Digital Marketing Inc. My agency helps small businesses and entrepreneurs grow through expert digital marketing strategies, content creation, and automation.
Let’s Dive Into the Heart of Sweet Greens, Jennie Lyon, The Person!
I live in the mountains of the charming town of Banner Elk, North Carolina. I’m sharing this incredible journey with my amazing husband, Jayson – we’re celebrating 26 years of marriage! Together, we’ve created a little family that includes our fantastic 24-year-old son, Eben, who is my absolute everything.
Now, a little about Jayson and me – we tied the knot in ’99 when I was just 22 (talk about young love!). He’s not only a fabulous husband and father but my go-to for laughter, support, and a rock-solid partnership that has allowed my businesses to thrive.
I started Sweet Greens when Eben was just a little boy, as a way to document our family’s journey toward a greener, more sustainable lifestyle. At the time, Jayson and I were researching and implementing eco-friendly changes in our own home—everything from organic food and non-toxic products to sustainable living hacks—and I wanted a creative outlet to share what we were learning with others.
What started as a personal passion project quickly grew into something much bigger, connecting me with like-minded families, brands, and businesses that shared our mission. Through the years, Sweet Greens has evolved, but at its heart, it has always been about inspiring others to make small, meaningful changes that add up to a healthier planet and a more sustainable way of living.
Then there’s Eben, our bright, creative, and funny young man. He’s not just my son; he is the JOY of my life.
Armed with TWO Bachelor’s degrees, one in Philosophy and the second in History, he’s currently pursuing his Master’s in the Art of Teaching. His ambitions are nothing short of incredible (he wants to be a professor, author, speaker, and researcher), and I am excited to see where his journey takes him!
What sets Eben apart is not just his academic prowess but also his boundless creativity. He consistently generates fantastic ideas that never fail to inspire me. Whether it’s through his writing, his artwork, or his deep love for philosophy, Eben brings a unique and fearless perspective to everything he does.

We Can’t Forget the Girls!
And let’s not forget the two adorable members of our family – our beloved fur babies, or as we affectionately call them, “The Girls”!
First up, there’s Noodles, our Pug. She recently passed away at the grand age of 14. We miss her HUGE personality (if you know, you know! and she’ll remain on the website, because I love her so…) Then, there’s Ms. Olive, our 14 year old French Bulldog, and the reigning queen of snuggles. She misses Noodles but is quite content being the sole baby in the house. Spoiling her might be an understatement – her love for popcorn is next level!🐾
When I’m not hustling in my office, you’ll find me hiking in our mountain neighborhood, checking out local bookstores and antique shops, or traveling in our RV. If it involves an adventure, I’m there! And just between us, there might be a teensy-weensy Red Vines Made Simple addiction – (yes, that’s a thing), and a large quantity of it stored in my closet. True story! 🍬
My journey in green living has been a deeply personal one, starting with making small changes in my own home and evolving into a career that allows me to inspire and educate others every day. Whether you’re new to sustainable living or looking for fresh ideas, I’d love to connect! Feel free to reach out to me anytime at mysweetgreens@gmail.com
