Promoting Your Vegan and Organic Bakery Business

Whether you start a vegan business in your home or rent an office, you need to know how to promote and market it to customers. We have some ideas for you if you own a vegan business or are developing an idea at home in the planning stages. We’ll discuss using social media, creating a product or menu that stands out, coming up with a good business idea, using digital marketing, and designing a good website.

Using Social Media

Vegan food restaurants, bakeries, and organic products are now a popular mainstream business. Social media is a good way to promote your business and connect with customers. Decide what age group you want to reach with social media. Facebook and Twitter are ways to reach all ages and people over 40 years and older. Do not exclude older customers, as many are interested in vegetarian food and ideas.

Instagram is a platform that relies on photography and videos to share your food product or idea with others. It reaches adults 18-49 years old at work or home. YouTube is a popular video-sharing platform that reaches the same age group. You can film a video about your restaurant, bakery, or food product showing staff and what you are selling. This can be a great platform for appealing to customers of all ages who desire to lose weight and eat healthily. In 2016, over 38.9% of adults 18 years and older with disabilities were obese. You can help a variety of people improve their health while effectively marketing your business.

TikTok is another social media platform that reaches people between 18 and 24, a big sector in the vegetarian market. You should watch some vegetarian chefs on TikTok to learn what viewers are seeking. Some vegan chefs are Remy Morimoto Park, Tabitha Brown, Will Edmond, or George Lee. They produce delicious recipes and entertaining ideas about vegan food at home and work.

Creating a Menu or Product That Stands Out

Whether you own a vegan restaurant or an organic bakery, focus on developing a unique product or menu that stands out. When you have a vegan bakery, focus on vegan muffins, gluten-free bread, banana bread, sourdough bread, or something that makes your business stand out. Offer specials and promotions on these items. On your restaurant menu, create some exciting new recipes for customers to try, like vegetable paella, spicy vegan mac and cheese, lentil soup, vegan lasagna, curry with rice and vegetables, or a Greek salad. Try to appeal to customers that are not vegetarians but like to eat a variety of foods.

Getting Experience and Help to Run Your Business

No matter what type of vegan food business you’re starting, these ventures require long hours and hard work to succeed. Working for a restaurant or food company before venturing out on your own is a good way to gain experience and training. There are many health food stores, bakeries, food trucks, and vegan food businesses you can gain experience with. When you start your business, make sure you have some money saved and a business plan. About 70% of small businesses employ tax professionals to help with accounting and IRS concerns when starting a small business. Don’t be afraid to get this type of professional help if you need it.

Using Digital Marketing Strategies

Pay attention to search engine optimization by using keywords for your vegan business or product. Learn about local Internet advertising on Google and other web search engines. When customers search for your business, where do you rank on the search engine? Build a blog or content on your website that customers can learn from and hold an interest in. Paid advertising and articles called native advertising are good ways to promote your business. Email marketing is another inexpensive way to use digital marketing.

Designing an Appealing Website

Vegan products require a good website to promote your business or products. About 94% of users reject a product or service due to poor web design. Hiring a professional web design agency that specializes in food or vegan web design can help. Photography and videos are often used in the vegan food industry to showcase food and products. A website that is easy to use and is mobile-friendly is an asset. Good recipes, content, and advertising help you promote and market your vegan business.

Clever Ways to Reduce Your Carbon Footprint This Summer

There are many ways to reduce your carbon footprint in the summer months. You can exercise more and use the car less frequently, grow a garden, eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and conserve energy using energy-saving devices. Below are some specific ideas of how your and your family can reduce your carbon footprint this season.

Try a New Mode Of Transportation

Just one gallon of gasoline emits tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Cut down on using your car this summer and walk and bike in your neighborhood instead. Think about walking to the mailbox instead of driving to the local post office to mail letters. When you drive somewhere and park, walk an extra few blocks rather than drive around to nearby destinations. You do not have to park as close as possible. Consider using the bus for local transportation, as choosing public transit can reduce the number of other vehicles on the street. There are over 6 million car accidents in the United States yearly, partially due to overcrowded roads. Choose local parks and trails in your state and walk and hike locally or enjoy taking a stroll around the block instead of a nightly drive to clear your head.

Not only do cars come with harmful emissions, but they can also be expensive to maintain. Around 96% of Subarus sold during the past decade are still on the road, which means many drivers may also have to deal with expensive vehicle maintenance to keep their cars operable. You can cut down on necessary repairs by ditching your car for a bike this summer whenever possible. Biking is a great way to exercise or get from point A to point B. If you live close to where you work, walking or biking to work in good weather can be a great way to burn calories, shed a sedentary lifestyle, and reduce your environmental impact. You can bike or walk in parks, local college campuses, the neighborhood, or in the heart of the city. Don’t forget to learn the safety rules and follow them when biking or walking. Walk and bike to places a few miles near your home to start; you might find you love it so much that you try not to take the car if you don’t have to!

Plan a Garden Or Grow Plants in Pots

Plant a garden this year and start growing some herbs and vegetables. Go to a local garden center and purchase native flowers, vegetables, and herbs. You should also stop using chemical pesticides and buy organic pesticides made from natural ingredients (or make your own at home!). While Oklahoma has over 540 common pests, they can be kept out of your garden in ways that won’t harm the surrounding environment if you stick to natural pesticides and insecticides. Your garden center can tell you how to care for the plants you buy. Buy plants for the deck or patio if you don’t have the time to care for a garden. You can use the vegetables and herbs you grow when cooking. This can help you reduce the environmental impact associated with purchasing groceries that come from far-away farms. You might even consider collecting water in a rain barrel to use to water the lawn and your plants at home, thus saving water!

Use a Programmable Thermostat and Fans to Reduce Energy Consumption

Installing a programmable thermostat will help you save on your electric bill when cooling the house. This handy device can increase or decrease the temperature, even when you’re not at home. Other ways to cool the house include closing the shutters, blinds, and shades during the day. You can also use a fan instead of an air conditioner or to supplement your AC. You might even think about switching to a green energy plan powered by renewable energy. Remember to unplug appliances you’re not using and cook on the outdoor grill instead of using the oven to reduce your overall energy consumption and to keep your home more comfortable throughout the hotter months.

Eat Local and Reduce Meat Consumption

This summer, shop at your local farmers’ market where they sell local produce grown in your region. You should always aim to buy seasonal produce, as it is less expensive and can be transported in a more environmentally-friendly way. You can always prepare your vegetables in large batches and freeze for later use to reduce waste. Find some new recipes for vegetable, fruit, and pasta salads or soups and try them out this summer. Be sure to try some new fruits and vegetables you have never eaten before every week. You can also reduce meat consumption in your diet, as the meat industry can be incredibly harmful to the environment.

These tips will help you reduce your carbon footprint and help you find a way to promote green and natural living in the warmer months.

Have a Weinervention at Your Next Summer Campout!

Wienervention KitWhat summer camp-out would be complete without a weine roast? Since we have been camping in the Florida Keys for the past week, I felt it was the perfect time to have a weinervention! We had toted along our Weinervention kit from Applegate that included everything that we needed for a tasty hot hog cookout including Applegates hotdogs made from simple natural ingredients; beef (that have never been administered antibiotics or hormones), water, salt and spices. It’s time to say goodbye to those dirty dogs filled with sodium phosphate, sodium nitrate, and who knows what else and switch to a cleaner-weiner!

Weinervention

We enjoyed ours in simple hotdog fashion: ketchup, mustard and relish served with coleslaw! It was a super fun way to celebrate our first week of camping!

Have you tried Applegate’s Natural Hotdogs? They would be perfect for the 4th of July!

Full Disclosure: I received a Applegate Weinervention Kit to review – however, we purchase a lot of Applegate products that we love and would have shared with you anyway!
