Win! A Tea Cup Cozy from Earth Friendly Etsy Shop Knit Storm Giveaway

I guess it isn’t a secret that I love, love, love tea. Almost everyday, you will find a hot cup of tea sitting next to me. What isn’t there to like? It is warm, yummy and good for you. Are you a tea lover? If so, this week’s Earth Friendly Etsy Shop:: Knit Storm will warm up your day.

KnitStorm has been open for a little over a year and is owned by Katy Reiser. Katy is married to a loving map enthusiast {Fantastic!} and is a new mother. Right now, Katy is in love with her son, cloth diapers, enjoying great music, reading fiction and watching quirky television shows.

Katy’s Earth friendly Etsy shop KnitStorm is full of knitted and crocheted mug cozies that are hand embellished, usually with fantastic embroidered wording and fun shapes. Katy is also a huge tea lover and you will see that reflected in her work. Fabulous. Katy’s favorite materials are recycled, reclaimed and organic. She also loves, loves, loves Ecofelt.

Katy is inspired by the creating process. She loves to make things that come from her own imagination. Being creative and keeping things fresh keeps her inspired. She sells products that she is proud of, products that have a low impact on the environment. She is a member of the Eco Etsy Street Team, which gives her new ideas on ways she can green her business and her life.

Doesn’t your mug need a cozy? I know, mine does. Katy has been so lovely to give one of my readers a fabulous vibrant red tea mug cozy made using recycled cotton yarn with a hand embroidered tea bag on it. Katy can also custom make a cozy that fits your personality perfectly, just drop her a note.

Vintage Candy Machines Upcycled for Guerrilla Gardening

The Los Angeles based design studio, Common Studio is selling vintage candy machines that have been upcycled to hold seed bombs, which can be purchased and tossed anywhere a little greenery is needed. How fantastic is this idea? Can you imagine seed bomb machines at your local schools, parks, trail heads and bicycle routes. Sign me up for GreenAid, I would love to see these in my town.

How about you lovely readers, have you guerrilla gardened before?
Would you dare throw seed bombs into a vacant lot?
Or a neighbors yard that desperately needs some greenery?

The Plant Room: Clip On Gardens

Do you live in an apartment, condo or a high rise building that doesn’t have room for a garden? What you need is a ‘clip on’ garden. Isn’t this a fantastic ideas from The Plant Room? It bolts to your existing structure, giving you the space to grow your own garden. This would be a great way to live more sustainably and everyone needs their own garden, right? This little video will give you a better idea of what the clip on garden is like.

How about you lovely readers, do you live in a space that doesn’t allow for a garden?
Would you use a ‘clip on’ garden?
What would you grow?

Xo.

Flora Grubb Hanging Succulent Gardens

Do you remember the Flora Grubb Vertical Gardens that I told you about earlier in March? I saw this fantastic DIY at Sunset Magazine (by the way: one of my fave magazines) of another amazing Flora Grubb garden, this one hanging. Isn’t it lovely? These woolly pockets are made using recycled plastic bottles. I would love to have my entire patio wall covered in these fabulous woolly pockets. Fantastic.

How about you lovely readers, what do you think of Flora Grubb’s designs?

Gabriel’s Aunt: Win A Lemon Bar Candle Giveaway!

This week’s Earth friendly Etsy shop is Gabriel’s Aunt owned by Nikki Sherrit in Seattle Washigton. Gabriel’s Aunt is a fabulous natural perfume and candle shop that also specializes in lovely bath products. Gabriel’s Aunt has been in business for over 7 years. The candles at Gabriel’s Aunt are made without any synthetic, petroleum-based fragrance oil or colors. Nikki only uses plant-derived essential oils, absolutes, no GMO plant waxes and butters. How fantastic is that?

When asked what inspires her, Nikki says that she loves the smell of real plants, herbs, flowers and resins. She also finds inspiration in cooking and hiking through the Pacific Northwest. She is a huge lover of natural bath products and sometimes will combine different soaps and lotions to come up with something fun and new. Nikki also loves living in Seattle and spending time with her boyfriend and fur babies.
Gabriel’s Aunt uses all recycled packing materials when shipping to customers. Everything is somehow used again or thrown into the recycle or compost bins. She also recently changed her larger glass candle’s packaging to limit the waste. When covering the candles for shipping, she uses a recycled paper seed top. You can also return the candle container to Gabriel’s Aunt and receive a discount on your next order. Nikki is currently working to expand her line with more custom blends. You can expect more fabulous products to come.
Nikki at Gabriel’s Aunt has been so lovely to offer one of my fantastic readers a delicious and tart Lemon Bar Candle with Lemon Lime and Butter. Yummy.
