Green Tips:: Donate Your Dress

If you are like me, you may have dresses in your closet from your prom or other formal event from your teen years? Please tell me I am not the only one who still has dresses in my closet from then? Why I held on to them for this long is beyond me, but there they are collecting dust and taking up space in my closet. I found a great way for these dresses to make their way across the dance floor again. Donate My Dress is the first national campaign designed to encourage girls around the country to donate their prom and special occasion dresses to those who cannot afford them for their prom, sweet 16, quinceanera or other formal event. You can donate a dress or receive one through Donate My Dress. If you have a dress to donate or are in need of a dress, click here. {Luckily all of my formal dresses were very simple and classic looking, so I think girls today would enjoy them as much as I did.} I will be donating my dresses, will you?

What is your favorite teen formal memory?
Enjoy.
xo.

    i would if i still had mine! lol. that was a really long time ago. i wish someone would donate one to me back then. i think i ended up being too casual next to my peers since they went to great lengths.

    Hi Tom Tuttle from Tacoma,
    I think it is a great program, how nice to have a dress donated to you, if you are unable to afford one. love it.

    Yep, already donated them as soon as I hit 20. I can’t stand the thought of me in those dresses again, so I get rid of them, thoughtfully.

    This is such a good idea! I’ve heard of this for wedding and business clothing, but never for prom dresses. I do have a prom sitting in my closet… but who knows if I can get rid of it. *guilty look* It was my first real formal dress, so it does have sentimental value. But I do have a couple other formal dresses (not as lavish as My First Prom Dress ™, but very, very nice) that I could donate!

    My favorite formal memory: goofing around (completely innocent, by the way) with someone whose date I was not. I ended up marrying him 4 years later. 🙂 It was also nice seeing two intelligent, lovely, quirky people win King & Queen.
