Eben has never eaten school lunch before and it is for all of the reason’s that Jamie’s Food Revolution exposes. Reason’s such as, french fries categorized as ‘vegetables’ or milk that is pink or brown. In fact, in our home we use ‘school lunch’ as leverage. If Eben doesn’t eat his delicious lunch that we pack for him {usually because he chats more than he eats at lunchtime}, we say, ” If you aren’t going to eat the lunch that we packed for you, then you will have to eat school lunch.” This completely freaks him out, and rarely will he bring home a lunch box full of food.
Even if you send your child off to school each morning with a healthy and yummy lunch, there are other lessons that you can learn from Jamie. Lessons such as the importance of knowing what is in your food, spending time with your family enjoying food and that even elementary aged children should use a knife to cut up their own food.
