Have you been looking for an environmentally friendly lunchbox for school, work or on-the-go that is also stylish and functional? If so, have you considered a bento box? I love the way each food item has it’s own area, keeping dry foods dry and dips and sauces under control.
How do you save the Earth at lunch time? Do you have a particular style of reusable lunch box that you adore. Please share below – your tips help us all!
Hello, Friends. Happy New Year! I am patiently waiting for the mister to get home from work so we can get in the hot tub. It has been in the low 60°’s all day today and I am freezing. Ha! However, it is perfect weather for bike riding, so tomorrow we plan to do exactly that, all day long. We are going to hit one of our favorite forested trails and hope to see some wildlife. If you live in a part of the world that is being hit by crazy cold weather – please stay warm and safe! And if you still have power, grab a blanket and a hot cup of tea and enjoy these few green things:
When was the last time that you simplified your life by getting rid of all of the clutter that surrounds you? The more things that we consume the more consumed we become with these things. It is easy for clutter to take over in today’s fast paced world where a new cell phone comes out every few months and we are tempted to buy around every corner. Buying something new that you already have a perfectly good one of – is it really necessary?
Look around your home and office, consider donating or selling items that you haven’t used in the past year, or bookLupo Enterprises to remove any junk that is no longer useful to anyone, chances are you won’t use them again. Clutter leads to disorganization and they both can add to your stress level. Simplifying your life, leaves you in control – just think how much easier your home will be to clean, how quickly you will be able to find something, how much more relaxed you will become in your own space. This month, I will be sharing simple organizing tips to get you on your way to a completely uncluttered life and a fuller, happier 2014!
YOUR TURN: What areas of organization do you find most challenging?
Rather than make resolutions each year – I tend to focus on setting small goals each month through out the year. I have found that by breaking down my goals into bite size pieces, it makes them easier to reach. Then, once I reach each milestone, I have a mini-celebration and I set another goal – and step by step I am usually hitting all of my long term goals by the end of the year.
This year, I really wanted to focus on goal making with my family. So, when NBC contacted me wanting to interview me about my family resolutions for 2014 (you can read the whole article here) – I was excited to get started writing down those goals. My big goal this year for my family is to get outside every single day. Living in Florida, we sometimes take sunny days for granted and while I don’t necessarily find anything wrong with staying in on a Saturday binge watching our favorite movies – I do think that there is still time in each day to get outside to enjoy the beauty that surrounds us and to get a little exercise. When it comes to resolutions, here is part of what I think:
As our award for getting outside every single day, I sat down with our calendars on New Year’s Eve and started to book monthly camping trips for 2014. I thought it would be a great way to keep us motivated to get outside every single day and since I set our goals to be simple and short, we will be able to celebrate our family hitting those goals each month. Here is what I have booked so far:
+ January 2014: Marco Island, Florida + February 2014: Everglades National Park, Florida + June 2014: Bahia Honda State Park, Florida (2 week trip) + July 204: Bahia Honda State Park, Florida
Do you make new year’s resolutions with your family? Do you have a particular way to motivate your family to keep those goals all year long? I would love to hear – please share in the comments section below.
Hello, Friends! Have you been enjoying the holidays? I have to admit, it was super nice to take a few days off to spend exclusively with my favorite people!
Do you have any fun plans for New Year’s Eve? Some years we stay in – other years we go out, I think one of my favorite New Year’s Eve was 1st Night in Fort Collins, Colorado. However, this year the mister doesn’t get home from work until 8:30 p.m. – so we are celebrating the New Year at home with a family dinner and game night. I am very much looking forward to it!
Whether you are staying at home for a quiet evening or going out to a festive party, you can make your New Year’s Eve more eco-friendly, here are my 3 tips to get you started:
1. Stay Local When deciding on how to spend your New Year’s Eve consider plans that don’t require going far. Whether you decide to stay at home, spend the evening with nearby friends and family or ride your bicycle to a local restaurant – staying local is key. It is also nice to be very close to home, if you plan on having a drink or two – plus, I have to admit I am not a fan of being on the road on NYE.
2. Eat Local Since we are celebrating at home this year, we will be eating very local. We hit our favorite market last night to pick up all of the ingredients for a yummy Japanese inspired meal at home. If you don’t feel like staying home and cooking – grab a bite from a local restaurant in your neighborhood.
3. Drink Local Since we are dining in this year, we will be enjoying organic wines with our dinner. Check your local grocery and liquor stores for their organic local offerings. If you are going out for the evening, check the wine menu, many local restaurants will carry local and organic wines – you just have to look or ask for them.
I would love to hear your plans, please leave them below!
