The mister and I have already started to talk about downsizing to a smaller home. However, we have decided to stay in the home that we currently live in until Eben finishes high school, er… well at least until Eben has finished elementary school.
Right now, I am kind of obsessed with the i-house. I can just imagine us living in a 1 bedroom 1 bath with a outside studio. I would definitely feel at home, the perfect size for our small family. You can see a great video of the i-house here. The only thing that is missing as far as I am concerned is a chicken coop, hammock and a fantastic view. Fruit Smoothies on the upstairs deck anyone?
I love, love, love to write letters. Do you remember this? I also love to recieve a handwritten letter in the mail, even better a love letter from Mr. Sweet Greens. Lovely, no?
This weeks Earth friendly Etsy shop Craftgasm makes the loveliest upcycled, reclaimed and sustainable paper goods that I have seen. Melissa the owner of Craftgasm, is a one woman stationary making machine based in Washington D.C.. Everything at Craftfasm except for the glue is made from something that was going to be thrown away or recycled, from the maps that she uses to create the collection to the address labels. The card stock that Melissa uses is cut from medical chart dividers that were no longer the correct size for a doctor’s office. She cuts them down to fit the envelopes that she rescued from an out-of-business company. Most of the maps that she uses were previously used a television network’s graphics department. These maps had been replaced by digital images, and Melissa was able to save them from their recycling bin and give them a new life. Melissa also uses blueprints and plans, falling apart vintage books and junk mail in her collection. She combines all of these mediums with her vintage cursive typewriter to create pins, mini-journals, stationary and note cards made with reclaimed paper.
I love, love, love all of the items at Craftgasm and would love to receive or send a lovely letter on any of the stationary or notecards. I also think it would be fabulous to have a map from a recent trip turned into a journal to record all of my memories of a fantastic vacation. Wouldn’t that be perfect? I also think her journals would make a lovely gift for someone who is leaving on a dream vacation or honeymoon, no?
Another lovely thing about Craftgasm, Melissa is a member of Team Eco Etsy. How lovely is that?
Melissa @ Craftgasm is giving ONE of my lovely readers a set of Reclaimed Stationary and Map Note Cards.

What special occasions do you have coming up in the new year?
Can you believe it is 2010? Wow, how time flies. I wanted to start out the new year with a fabulous Eco friendly giveaway. This is a fun one that will be perfect for any kitchen. Enjoy and here’s to a fabulous 2010. Cheers!
I have to admit that I find a diet soda to be a sweet treat once in a while and Mr. Sweet Greens enjoys a good gingerale or grapefruit soda here and there. We also make sure to always have root beer on hand, because whenever Eben has a friend sleepover we make the kids root beer floats after dinner. I also have to admit that type of soda that our family enjoys is usually the most expensive brand and because of the cans or plastic bottles, we don’t usually purchase soda.
So, a few weeks ago when we received a SodaStream {Your home soda factory} we were excited and intrigued to give it a try. The first thing I have to say is that the SodaStream delivery driver was quite nice and when we opened the package I was delighted to find that our SodaStream would match our kitchen perfectly, it came in red. {lovely}
We decided to wait until Eben came home from school to try out the SodaStream and we were immediately impressed. As it turns out making soft drinks is simple and fun. All we had to do was add tap water to the SodaStream reusable and BPA free bottle, secure it to the SodaStream and press the carbonation button a few times and then add the soda mix. {Each bottle of soda mix makes 33 cans of soda.}
I like that the bottles are reusable and BPA free and can be used over and over again. I also love that there is are no bottles to store until we drink the soda and then recycle afterward, not to mention no bottles to lug home from the grocery store.
When you are ready to purchase more SodaStream soda mix, simply go to their online store, order and it will be delivered to your front door. I also like the variety of flavors, we received soda mix in lemon lime, orangeroot beer, diet cola, diet root beer, diet cranberry raspberry, diet pink grapefruit and diet gingerale flavors. We also received a set of flavors to make our own fruity sparkling water. I love that none of the soda mixes contain high fructose corn syrup or aspartame. We have tried almost all of the flavors and they are all fabulous. We have served them to guests in our home and everyone has been impressed with the flavor and the SodaStream itself. SodaStream is super affordable at about 25ยข per can of soda, how great is that?
I am excited to have a children’s party and let all of the children use the SodaStream to make their own drinks. Wouldn’t they have a fantastic time? I also think this will be great for the summertime, perfect for camping, BBQ’s and picnics in the park.
