Green Holiday Gift Idea For Kids: Your Vintage Toys

I was one of those children who took really good care of my toys. In fact – most of the toys that I had as a child that were super important to me, I still have to this day. I always wondered if my own children would be interested in the toys that I saved all of these years. So each year, I try to remember to pick one think from my trunk that I think Eben would treasure too and give it to his as a holiday gift.

Last year, the mister and I introduced Eben to Gremlins, he loved it – especially Gizmo. That is when I remembered the huge trunk in our guest room, full of toys from my past. Among the treasures a mint 1984 Gizmo. I decided to add it to Eben’s holiday gifts – and to my surprise it was the one thing that he was still carrying around several weeks later. He kept asking me, “How old is this Gizmo again, Mom?” Ha.

Do you have treasures from your past that you dig out to give to your children?
Do you find that sharing these prized possessions brings you closer to your child?
If not, do you buy gifts for your children that remind you of your childhood?

P.S. This years gift from my trunk is going to be my large collection of PEZ dispensers!
