Jayson does all of our cooking here at Casa de Sweet Greens {thank goodness}. He is the type of person who can whip up a gourmet meal in a 1/2 an hour and have it look at taste like something from the Food Network. He loves to cook with exotic spices and flavors. Since he does all of the cooking, he also does all of the grocery shopping. {thank goodness again}. Whenever he is in need of spices, he takes our reusable containers to our favorite grocery store and refills the containers in the bulk food section. Loose spices are not only more affordable, but you eliminate the need for any type of disposable packaging that will end up in the landfill. I think large glass jars full of spices look fab in any kitchen. What do you think?
Do you buy your spices in bulk?
What is your favorite spice?
xo.

We live in a very rural area, and up until about a week ago couldn’t buy bulk spices in small enough quantities that we’d be able to use them before they lost their goodness.
But a new bulk store has opened a few towns away and while it’d probably be too far for most folks, it’s close enough for us lol. So we’ll be buying in bulk there.
Hi Deborah, That is great, it makes it much more economic and environmental friendly to buy items in bulk and saves you from having to drive that far to get supplies all the time.

Sweet Greens.
We don’t have any place that sells spices loose but we have an excellent Asian Market that sells bulk. Too much for just me but friends share the same food tastes – so every 3 months we make up a list and a couple of us get the bus across town – then split the products up for everyone when we get back.
Hi GreenWorks, That is a fab idea. I think this ideas also works for friends who shop at big box stores.
Thank you for sharing.
XO,
Sweet Greens.
