Since our family celebrates a little bit of Hanukkah, Christmas and the Winter Solstice this time of year, we are starting our official celebrating tonight! After all, for all of those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, tonight is the longest night of the year – the Winter Solstice. Doesn’t it just seem fitting to stay up late spending time with your family tonight?
— Did you know that during the 2010 Winter Solstice there was also a Lunar Eclipse? Check out this video filmed by William Castleman in Florida – it is fantastic!
How are you spending the longest night of the year!

that was gorgeous! it was cloudy here that year so we were unable to view it at all…so cool…loved when it turned red/orange/yellow! hubby took the weekend off work so we had three full days off together to celebrate and just be together. We ate too much and also were lucky enough to get 4 inches of snow ON Solstice, which NEVER happens! Made for a gorgeous 1st day of winter for sure!
