Christmas is in the air! One of my favorite holiday traditions is creating festive decorations for our home with my son. We especially enjoy taking items headed for the garbage or recycling bin and giving them new life as something bright and cheery for the holidays.
Making a fun, colorful wreath for your front door is a great way to welcome visitors with cheery decor. I recently rounded up several recycled wreaths that I could make on a weekend afternoon with my son. Here are seven very cleverly crafted wreaths that I came across which utilize everything from recycled wine corks and leftover pieces of wrapping paper to broken holiday lights and dad’s least favorite neckties! Jump over to Inhabitots to see all of these inspiring wreaths and pick one out to create with your children this coming chilly winter weekend.
Target has partnered with the Target Inner Circle gang to put together a Holiday 101 blog series. As a team we are sharing everything you need to plan the perfect holiday party! All of the blog posts will be compiled and shared on A Bullseye View in the coming weeks.
Since I am always looking for the best in eco-friendly, sustainable, affordable and organic products from Target, I thought I would share with you my top hostess gifts ideas, let’s get started:
1. Wine. Wine. Wine. My local Target offers a nice selection of organic wines, which seems to be my go to holiday hostess gift. I tend to stock up when I find a favorite on sale – giving me a nice selection to choose from when a holiday party pops up. I always pick up a handful of cute wine cozies and tags to complete the gift too! So far, it has been a huge hit!
2. A Good Green Clean Another hostess gift that is always well received is a cute caddy full of my favorite green cleaners ( I really like Mrs. Meyers Clean Day), reusable microfiber washcloths and sponges. I choose a caddy that has a handle, which makes it perfect for storing the cleaners in, but also makes cleaning day a breeze – just grab it and you are ready to go.
3. Something for the Entire Family If the hostess has a family, I will choose a gift that her entire family can enjoy. Usually, that means a reusable basket full of organic snacks that the family can enjoy together throughout the holidays. I always pick up a few snacks from the Simply Balanced collection and sometimes I add a couple of card games or a small board game to the basket as well.
4. Simple Smells for the Home If you are looking for a simple gift that everyone on your hostess gift list will enjoy, look no further than a pairing of Method Hollyberry + Peppermint Vanilla hand wash and lotion. They are the perfect holiday addition to anyone’s kitchen or bathroom this holiday season and the Orly Kiely design just makes it that much better!

I have a really good giveaway for you again this morning. It’s sponsored by Design with Benefits, they are offering up a generous $50 gift certificate!
Of course if you win, you can choose to pick out anything from the wonderful collection of pieces offered by Design with Benefits. However, if it were me I would pick up some the following:
1. Wood Tie $39.99 I love these wood ties made from the best reclaimed Redwood, sourced from old barns and bridges all over Northern California. The ties are super light weight, allowing you to wear one all day and all night. The segments are held together by an elastic cord, giving you ultimate flexibility and comfort. Cords can be adjusted to suit your collar size. So fun!
3. Wood Six Pack $41.99 The Mister is a huge fan of craft beers – I think it would be so fun to surprise him with a wood six pack full of some of his favorites! It’s made from reclaimed Redwood from the Bay Area. This would also make a great gift to tote some of your favorite beers to that upcoming holiday party!
4. Tall Enough $14.99 Tall Enough is a folk tale of a South African boy, Tshepo, who wishes to be tall like the trees. After planting his feet in the ground, and watering himself, he finally gets his wish and turns into a tall tree. Soon Tshepo realizes that being a tree is no fun, and with the help of a bird learns one of life’s most crucial lessons, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. And the illustrations are amazing!
5. BirdProject Soap $24 Looking for the perfect gift for that someone who has everything – look no further than BirdProject Soap. This adorable, all natural, vegan black soap is Fair Trade. The best part – there is a smaller white ceramic bird hiding inside! It’s meant to remind you of the lasting effecting of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill and half of all sale proceeds go to the Gulf Restoration Network and International Bird Rescue for the environmental cleanup and care of animals affected.
In 1994, a portion of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unitarian Meeting House in Madison, Wisconsin was being re-roofed, and the copper sheets trucked off for scrap. That was when designer Scott Lesh decided to purchase large quantities of the material to create sculptural works, as well as a line of limited edition jewelry. Each piece is made from portions of the historic roof, sterling silver, and freshwater pearls.
Design with Benefits offers a curated collection of products with social and environmental benefits in mind. A percentage of all of their net profits goes toward creative projects using design to solve social problems.
