Valentine’s Day Fun | Nature is Where My Heart Is

Whenever we are hiking or biking as a family, we love to look for hearts in nature. Here are a couple of hearts that we found on our Fall Family Trip to North Carolina last year. We also have a sweet collection of heart shaped stones that we have picked up along life’s path! Does your family look for hearts in nature? Do you snap photographs of them or bring them home?

P.S. Have you seen this fantastic collection of 25 Awesome Hearts Found in Nature over at Adventure Journal? I am quite smitten with any island shaped like a heart. Fantastic.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Hello, Friends! Happy Valentine’s Day! Has your day been full of pink hearts and sweet treats? I just finished up Eben’s Valentine’s Scavenger Hunt – he will be so surprised when he gets home from school!

Tonight, Mr. Sweet Greens is taking me to one of our favorite local restaurants for dinner – and Grandpa Sweet Greens is staying home with Eben. Yay, for date nights! And my parents are coming into town to visit for a week – they fly in late tonight. I can’t wait. I see a lot of sailboat time in the coming week and these Valentine’s put me in a grrreat mood!

What are your Valentine’s Day plans?

PS: Thank you for all of the birthday love – 35 is looking fine!

How to Make Recycled Bottle Cap Valentine Magnets

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and one of the sweetest parts of the holiday is making do-it-yourself cards with your children. The very idea behind giving Valentine’s Day cards is to tell your friends how much you like them and it’s a holiday where creativity always shines through. And making unique do-it-yourself Valentine’s using recycled items is super easy, affordable and fun. This year, Eben and I decided to make fun Valentine magnets for his friends using bottle caps. It’s an easy craft, and one that many kids can do entirely on their own, (younger children will need help with the hot glue). Plus, Eben had a blast finding tiny pictures to use. Check out the simple step-by-step instructions and make recycled bottle cap magnet Valentines with your children this weekend.
