If there is one thing that my family has done right – and maybe it is the only thing {wink}, we have had a sit down dinner almost every night of Eben’s life. Eating dinner together has always been the most important time that we spend together as a family. It gives us a chance to reconnect at the end of the day, try new foods together, teach Eben’s manners (we are still working on this one) and communicate with each other.
What we are learning as we devour our copy of The Family Dinner is that there are many creative, fun ways for us to bond over dinner – that we haven’t tried yet.
Eben loves the Kids in the Kitchen section and Table Talk so these two sections have been very important to us. I want Eben to grow up knowing how to prepare his own meals, so that he can keep the ritual of the family dinner alive and well in his own family. And I think that the Table Talk section will remain extremely important once he hits the pre-teen and teenager years. Our goal is to keep the family conversation flowing.
