Green Community: Mama Said Sew: Old Town, Fort Collins, Colorado

We have a new fabric store and sewing lounge in Old Town, Fort Collins called Mama Said Sew. It is owned and operated by Angela Gray and her friendly staff. It is a fabulous, fun little shop full of fresh colorful patterns, amazing fabrics, books and fun little nooks and decorations. The best part, they teach sewing classes. Yay! I can finally learn to use my sewing machine that is collecting dust in my studio. Really, I could spent the entire day at this fantastic little shop. Bonus, they have incredible organic fabric options too!

Here are some pictures from my trip to the store:

Doesn’t Mama Said Sew just make you want to get creative?
Do you know how to sew? Do you love it?
I would love to become a better seamstress, it is a goal of mine.

Have A Lovely Green Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello, Friends! How was your week? Can you believe it is Friday already? Do you have any fun plans for Father’s Day weekend? Today I am organizing Eben’s wardrobe. It is time to sort everything into three piles, keep, sell and donate. I do this every summer and the money that I earn from the sale of his clothing is used to purchase all of the supplies that he will need for the coming school year.
Tomorrow we are celebrating Eben’s 9th Birthday with a little get together at our neighborhood pool. It is going to be very low key and simple, with only a handful of children attending. Isn’t the pool the perfect place for a children’s birthday party?
I have always made Eben’s birthday cake or cupcakes in the past, this Rainbow Birthday Cake is calling to me. However, this year I am picking up a couple of dozen organic cupcakes from a local cupcakery.
On Sunday, Eben and I plan to surprise Mr. Sweet Greens with a morning of golf, followed by lunch at his favorite restaurant.

I want to wish all of your Dad’s a very happy, fun-filled Father’s Day weekend.

xo,
Sweet Greens

Allandale House: Simple Home Perfection

I spent part of my childhood growing up in a log home in the mountains of Liberty, Utah. With that said, I have always had a crush on A-frame homes. I love their simplicity – the design, the open living space and the size.

Architect William O’Brien Jr. takes the A-frame to the next level with the Allandale House. This modern version of the forest cabin combines a fantastic use of asymmetrical design with an open air feeling.

Isn’t it fantastic?
Would you live in a home like this?
