Vintage Fun for Kids: Vintage Pedal Cars

I love, love, love vintage cars. Do you remember this about me? My Dad is a HUGE vintage car lover and has a shop at his home that is full of vintage cars and their parts, around 30 in total. His love for ‘old cars’ definitely rubbed off on me. I also love fantastic kids design that is full of color and gets the imagination rolling. So when the two meet in the fashion of Vintage Pedal Cars from the 1950’s, I start to think to myself, ‘If I start to collect these, where will I put them?’ Aren’t they fantastic? The colors, the shapes. Now, how to tell Mr. Sweet Greens I want to start collecting something this size?

Are you a vintage car lover?
What is your favorite vintage car?

Right in Time for Spring: How to Make Your Own Green Cleaners

Springtime is supposedly here, except for the fact that I woke up today with a couple of inches of snow out my window? So instead of camping this weekend, I guess I will be doing my spring cleaning. Did you know that you can give your home a good clean without toxic chemicals? Better yet, you can make your own green cleaners that clean just as well as their pricey, chemical laden counterparts and at a fraction of the price. Visit my blog at Cascadian Farm for my eight favorite green cleaning recipes, everything from my Scrub a Dub Bathroom Cleaner to my Happy Feet Floor Cleaner.

How about you lovely readers, do you make your own green cleaners?
Which one of my recipes is your favorite?

Earth Friendly Etsy: Win An Upcycled Bangle Bracelet Clutch from b.bags

Now that Spring is finally here, it is time to add a little fun and color to your wardrobe. What better way to do that, than with a fantastic handbag, clutch or wallet. My handbag is a deep autumn orange and it is this pop of color that just makes me smile. And if you are still looking for a great goody for your Mom, Sister or Best Friend for Mother’s Day, you will want to stay tuned.

Today’s Earth friendly Etsy Shop is b. bags in Houston, Texas. b. bags is owned by Lora Bunge who has been sewing clutches, wallets, messenger and tote bags for over two years. The first thing you will notice while browsing b. bags is the fantastic colors, patterns and shapes. I love the Betsy Over sized Clutch in Green and Brown Hounds Tooth Wool and the Benson in Gold and Brown (The lining is fabulous). Lora’s favorite materials to use are second hand and vintage, of course. She loves wools, linens, thick durable denims and canvas. She is inspired by her drive to become more creative, she finds that spending the day at the thrift store turns on the designer inside of her. She can look at a pair or pants and think of ways that she could incorporate it’s material into a new lovely handbag. The best part of b.bags is that Lora uses every piece of scrap material, nothing is wasted.

When Lora isn’t designing and sewing fantastic handbags, you will find her hanging out with her husband and their 5 year old Yellow Lab, Bud. Lora enjoys playing volleyball, watching movies, trying new foods and visiting her local dog park with Bud. As her spring project, she is also in the process of starting a composting pile. How fantastic is that?

Lora at b.bags is giving one of my readers a lovely an Upcycled Bangle Bracelet Clutch. This clutch is perfect for those of us who need to use our hands while carrying our bag or if you are prone to loosing your purse! Just slip the chunky bracelet around your wrist and you are off!

First Self Sustaining Fish Farm Ocean Spheres In Waters off Hawaii

We are aware that the ecosystem of our ocean is in peril due to the demand for seafood and wild fisheries being deleted at a devastating rate. Hawaii Oceanic Technology, Inc. has created the Oceansphere to control the world’s seafood harvesting and hopefully bring balance back to our oceans. The Oceansphere is an open ocean aquaculture where farming fish in the open ocean becomes a reality.

The Oceansphere is a self sustaining and untethered sphere that is designed to product a large harvest of fish (for human consumption) without an impact on the environment. The first Oceanspheres will house tuna in the waters of Hawaii.

What do you think of the Oceansphere?
Do you think it could change our world forever?
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if our oceans were forever freed of large scale fishing boats?

Lip Service {Eco Lips}

You guys already know that I am a huge lip balm fan. I love lip balm. I do not leave the house without a lip balm in my pocket. I am crazy that way. One of my favorite lip balms is made by Eco Lips. Eco Lips is the creation of Andrea Danielson who began crafting small batches of lip balm in her kitchen in the early 1990’s.

Eco Lips organic lip balm is handcrafted in Cedar Rapids, Iowa using Andrea’s original family recipe. Eco Lips offers a full line of natural lip care products that are created using the best certified organic ingredients and they donate 1% of their profits to environmentally friendly non-profit organizations.

My favorite is the Vegan Bee Free Lip Balm in Lemon Lime flavor. I love the smell and the texture.

Want to try Eco Lips out for yourself? Visit Eco Lips and then leave me a comment telling me which flavor you would like to try and also why I should choose you to win a fabulous four pack of Eco Lips Lip Balm. {The most creative or funny answer will win}

Contest ends on June 25th, please leave a way for me to contact you.
Good Luck and Enjoy.

UPDATE: Winner:: Angela @ ripley29@verizon.net because I have a bulldog named Lilly who loves lip balm and when you dab a little on her mouth she sneezes over and over again…so this story made me laugh and relate. Congrats Angela.
