Aren’t owls just one of the loveliest animals you have ever seen? Their big wide eyes, stout bodies and sweet ears just make me smile. Not to mention, the hoot. I mean really, can you think of another animal sound as fabulous as a Hoot! Hoot!? Adorable.
Have you seen the lovely little owl plushies at Night Owl Paper Goods? I have talked about them before here and think they are fantastic. Wouldn’t these little owls be perfect for Valentine’s Day. Can you imagine hiding one among the books on your bookshelf or next to a pillow on the sofa for your sweetie to find? I know my day would be brightened if one of these little sweeties flew into my life. Fantastic, no? And how about Vera {above} doesn’t she look intrigued?
Doesn’t Perry {above} look like he just did something that he is going to get into trouble for?

A few weeks ago, I received a lovely little surprise package in the mail. It was a lovely surprise from Rikkianne at ChakraPennywhistle. Rikkianne sent me a lovely Green Tomato Dish Towel. How fabulous is that? It is a larger towel, the reason being, so you can wear it around your waist while you work. Fantastic! It is lovely with a sweet design. I love, love, love my Green Tomato Dish Towel. It is hanging in my kitchen, ready to be worn at a moments notice. Perfect for baking cookies or preparing dinner. When I am not wearing it, it makes a lovely piece of art on the wall.

Hello, Friends! How was your week? Did you do anything fun during the long weekend? We took our dogs and went on another winter family hike. We was a lovely day and being outdoors together is always one of our favorites pass times.
The mister and I also finally watched Food. Inc,. Have you seen it? I think it is a fantastic documentary with a lot of wonderful information and very well done. We have watched many documentaries on the food industry and the environment, so we were already aware of what the movie had to say. Another great food documentary is ‘The Future of Food’. If you haven’t seen either of these documentaries, I highly recommend them both.
Food, Inc. reminded us that we also have a lot of food products in our home that we don’t necessarily know where it comes from. And that WE do have a say about what we eat and how and where it is produced. Remember, every time you purchase a food item, you are voting with your money, so vote well.
With that in mind, we have decided to start buying as much of our fruits, veggies, eggs, bread and poultry from our local family farm, Grant Family Farm. Grant Family Farm has a wonderful CSA (Community Sponsored Agriculture) that we are going to look into joining this weekend. We think that knowing exactly where and how our food is grown is super important. We want Eben to see the chickens laying the eggs and roaming around the farm grounds. We want him to understand how and where our food is grown and how important this is to both our health and the health of the environment. We want our family to have a stronger connected with our community, the environment, the animals and our food, so we have decided to go for it.

Have you seen the lovely low impact wooden home that a Wale’s man built for his family? This home was built so that they would be able to live close to and in harmony with the environment. Some features of the home include; straw bale insulation, solar panels, a rooftop water collection system and a compost toilet. Fantastic! I really love this home and think the mister will flip for it! I can just see us snuggled up in front of the wood burning fireplace reading, can’t you?
