SNAPWARE: Home Storage {Giveaway!} CLOSED

Is one of your new year resolutions to start preparing your own healthy sustainable meals? How about getting your refrigerator, freezer and pantry completely organized? If either of these resolutions are on your list, you are going to need some amazing home storage containers.

Mr. Sweet Greens does a ton of cooking so our pantry, refrigerator and freezer are always full of fabulous whole foods. We have found that by using food storage containers to organize our pantry, refrigerator and freezer that we are able to keep track of what staples we have in our pantry, what frozen items we have in our freezer and what prepared meals we need to consume from the refrigerator.
To help us get even more organized, we recently purchased two large sets of SnapWare GlassLock simply because we wanted food storage containers that are BPA free, plus our local Costco carries them and they were a great deal. We have been using our SnapWare GlassLock for three months and love, love, love it.
So when a HUGE box from SnapWare arrived on our porch we were delighted and excited. Plus any reason to reorganize my pantry is a good reason, I love organization. We received several of the MODS and Airtight Canisters and I found these to be perfect for all of the snack items that we have in our pantry. I love the Airtight Canisters, they are large, sturdy and airtight. I love that they are completely clear, so you can see exactly what is inside. The MODS are amazing, I love containers that are stackable with clean lines. These have the SnapLock lids for complete closure and are also completely clear so you can see what is inside.

Also, we received pieces from the Snap ‘N Stack and Pantry Series and these are fabulous as well. I love how roomy the Pantry Series pieces are. The Slim Flip-Top Container is perfect for cereals, snacks or any dry goods. I also love the large containers with handles which are perfect for taking goodies on the road. We used one of the larger handled containers to put an assortment of Eben’s pencils, smencils, pens and notepads in. This was perfect for traveling during the holidays, it keep all of his art supplies together and since it has a handle, he was able to carry it himself. {Brilliant} The Snap ‘N Stack are perfect for lunches, you could put a sandwich on the bottom and fresh fruit or veggies on the top.

There was also a set of Snap ‘N Serve which was perfect for all of those holiday leftovers. I love the assortment of sizes that they come in and love that they stack nicely in my refrigerator. I also love that the lids snap on tightly, so if something accidentally tips over, we won’t have a huge mess. Again these containers are completely clear, so you always know what is in the containers without having to open them.

More goodies included a Cookie and Cupcake Carrier and Egg Tainer w/ Handle. These will definitely be used at our home. Eben and I are always baking up goodies and Mr. Sweet Greens loves to make fancy deviled eggs for the holidays and parties. These are super sturdy and perfect for storing and presenting the goodies. They keep the eggs and cupcakes from sticking together and make it easy to touch just the egg or cupcake that you are going to eat.

Overall, we have been extremely pleased with every piece that we have in our collection. If one of your New Years Resolutions is to get organized and to keep your food fresh while being stored, then SnapWare is the solution that you are looking for.

I am giving away a complete 36 piece set of MODS food storage containers to ONE of my lovely readers. This set will have you more than on your way to an organized kitchen and home.

Hello all my lovely readers. How was your week? Have you made your green New Year resolutions? If not, you still can. If you have, are you sticking to them? What action plan are you taking to reach your goals? So far, we are meeting our green goals and I am really excited about it.

Isn’t it lovely that today is Friday? What are your plans? My weekend starts tonight at 5pm, when I leave to go on a six hour scrap-booking night with my lovely friend Clair. We always have so much fun catching up on our scrap-booking, drinking wine, chatting and enjoying dinner together. So fun, right? Saturday night, I am having a Super Mario Brothers marathon {Wii} and sleepover with Eben. {We camp out in our family room} Finally, on Sunday Mr. Sweet Greens, Eben and I are going to spend the day on a winter hike, complete with hot tea and cocoa. I can’t wait, I love to be bundled up outside in the snow. After our hike, I plan on coming home, snuggling under a big cozy blanket with my boys and watching a movie. If you don’t have plans for the weekend you can always watch ‘SharkWater‘, it is a fantastic film.

What are your lovely weekend plans?

SharkWater {The Truth Will Surface}

SHARKWATER: TRAILER

SHARKWATER MySpace Video

My family recently watched the fabulous true-life documentary Sharkwater. This is a documentary by Rob Stewart who journeys through 15 countries over five years, documenting one of our ocean’s most fantastic and misunderstood creatures, the shark.

This documentary is amazing and a must see for anyone who loves our environment, the ocean, sharks and sea life in general. I knew that shark’s were becoming extinct but I had no idea the the reason’s that SharkWater shows. I think you will find all of the reasons shocking as well. This documentary blew my mind, it is a very emotional film that had Mr. Sweet Greens and I yelling at the television one moment and sobbing the next.

I will admit, living in Florida for 5 years really effected the way I felt about sharks. I was afraid of them and nervous about Eben snorkeling and swimming in the ocean. {I never let him now that though, because he loves, loves, loves the ocean and isn’t afraid of anything in it.} However, after watching SharkWater I have a completely different view of sharks. They aren’t the aggressive man eaters that we have always been warned of. The fact is that they are more afraid of us then we should be of them and we should respect and cherish these beautiful creatures.

Eben took the film very seriously, as he usually does, and instead of crying or yelling, he firmly stated over and over again that when he grows up he will NOT allow this to happen. {Eben wants to be a photographer for National Geographic and firmly believes that he will have an impact on the environment through his filming.} I can’t wait for that, nothing would make me happier than having my son grow up to film the Earth professionally.

I strongly encourage you to buy the DVD, Donate Now to Save Sharks, Pledge to Save the Sharks, and learn more about how you can save the sharks at SharkWater.

How do you feel about sharks?
Will you see this documentary?

Green Community:: Organixx {Good Eats, Naturally}

Last weekend we wanted to go to LoDo {Lower Denver} area to visit Tattered Cover Bookstore, do some window shopping and have lunch at Organixx. We had picked Organixx to have lunch at before we even left for the day. The reason that we picked it was because it was featured in ‘Sunset Magazine’ and after checking out their website, sounded perfect for the day.

Organixx, simply put is real food that tastes fantastic. Their tag line is good eats, naturally. Who can argue with that? The best part is this is healthy food that actually tastes delicious. When you visit their website, their mission statement says everything that you need to know::

“Sustainable, Eco-friendly, reusable, recyclable, fair trade, natural, energy efficient, organic, local, green, low-impact, fresh.”

Organixx is the perfect place to grab a fabulous and quick organic lunch for under $10. In fact they currently have a sandwich and salad special for $7.95. Believe me, your $10 will go far, you will feel completely satisfied when you leave. Your tummy and the environment will thank you.

As you enter Organixx you will be immediately charmed by it’s retro cafeteria style. My favorite parts are the tables with orange chairs {my favorite color} and beautiful yet sustainable art on the walls. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable and Mr. Sweet Greens especially enjoyed the music that was playing overhead. A little RadioHead anyone?

Mr. Sweet Greens ordered the Cesar plus with Salmon, I had the Mediterranean Spinach with a fabulous roll and Eben had a grilled cheese on whole wheat with a bowl of Beer Cheese Soup. {Eben’s favorite part of the meal was the homemade croutons that came with his soup and the fresh fruit that came with his sandwich. Yes, fresh fruit.} He also wanted the roll that came with my salad, very, very, very badly. Hee Hee.

Mr. Sweet Greens and I found both of the salads to be large, fresh, full of great veggies with dressings that really complimented the dish. We finished all of our meals completely and felt satisfied and happy. We thought Organixx offered high quality food for a quick stop lunch spot.

The gentlemen who were working at Organixx that day were super friendly and helpful. They checked with us several times to make sure that we were enjoying everything. They were able to accommodate every request that we made cheerfully.

We will definitely visit Organixx again, I only wish that there was one closer to our home. If you are ever in LoDo or live nearby, I highly recommend the food and the service. Stop by 1520 Blake street, Denver and check it out.

Have you ever visited Organixx?
What are your favorite local fresh food joints?
