Turn off your lights for change tonight at 8:30-9:30 p.m.!

This year Earth Hour has been transformed into the worlds first global election.You can either vote for the Earth or for global warming. It is your choice.

The results of this worldwide election will be presented to World Leaders at The Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming.

This your chance to make your voice heard. Flip off the lights from 8:30-9:30 local time.

What will you be doing while the lights are off?

Me? I am going to use the time to think of other ways that I can help the Earth. Personally, I don’t think one hour is enough. I think that there are many important changes that need to be made in order to save the planet.

Eben and the Koi.

There is a Koi pond at the nature center where Eben takes all of his gardening classes, but the children are no longer allowed to get in with the fish. Understandably so. Whever we are in Florida, Eben anxiously awaits our trip to Louis and Linda’s house. One of the reasons is because Louis and Linda have an enorous Koi pond in their yard. The best part is that Eben can get in it and swim with the Koi. The Koi do not seem bothered by this at all, they are very social. These lovely Koi look just like the one’s in Louis’ lovely paintings.

Green Your Holidays:: Night Owl Paper Goods

It is time to start writing those holiday cards, just 22 days until Hanukkah starts and 36 days until Christmas. There are so many wonderful and Eco friendly options available and I want to start sharing some of my favorites. Night Owl Paper Goods makes some lovely cards printed on sustainably harvested Eco friendly birch. They also come with recycled kraft envelopes. Night Owl Paper Goods sent me a package of cards a few weeks back and we love them. Eben picked out one that he especially adores and requested that he recieve it as a birthday card. These cards are adorable and Earth friendly. I love the design, the colors and the concept. Fabulous.

Guess what? They also make the sweetest plushie owls you have ever seen. Eben would fall to pieces to find one of these little guys in his stocking this year. I would love, love, love to have one of my own. We have a major thing for owls in our home, but who doesn’t? Owls are simply lovely little creatures. {Don’t you just want to hug Harper or Samuel? and doesn’t Felix look like he is up to no good?}
