Steve Jobs

I woke up today to learn the news about Steve Jobs and was overcome with sadness. Mr. Sweet Greens and I spent the morning discussing his death and Eben worried that we were talking about a close family member. Apple products have had a huge impact on our lives and Steve made living more beautiful.

When I first decided to start my own business, one of the first contracts that I secured was with Apple. I worked virtually as a technical support representative, part of my contract was to stay current on all of Apple’s keynote addresses, conferences, products, and press releases. This has always been a large part of the contracts that I hold with my clients. However, with Apple it was different – it was the first time that I actually looked forward to them. I loved to watch the creative genius [Steve] in action. Apple’s advances in technology have had a direct impact on my career.

A quote from Steve: “No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

How was your life impacted by Steve Jobs?
