Green Your Holidays with Organic Cotton Pajamas for Christmas Eve

We visited our Costco Saturday night to pick up a few essentials and to see if they had organic turkeys for Thanksgiving. They do, Yay! While we were there, the mister suggested that we look for pajamas for Eben. I usually buy him pajamas for the holidays, but he is in desperate need of warm pajamas, since his no longer fit and I don’t think he could wait much longer. I wasn’t sure, if we would find anything Eco friendly in the pajama section at Costco. However, what to my wandering eyes should appear, but Children’s 100% SKAL Certified Organic Cotton Pajamas. Even the tags were 100% recycled paperboard, printed with soy ink. I was a little stunned and overjoyed. They were a great deal at $11.99 for a 2 piece set and they had sweet designs perfect for any little boy or girl. Eben picked the space and dinosaur pajamas.

If you are looking for lovely organic cotton pajamas for the little ones this year, these would be wonderful

Do you buy pajamas for your children for the holidays, particularly Christmas Eve?

Book: Green Chic Tips and Giveaway

I recently received a copy of “Green Chic: Saving the Earth in Style” by Christie Matheson. It is a fun little green book that is packed full of fabulous ways you can save the planet while being fabulous at the same time. The chapters are divided into groups covering everything from food and wine to travel and cosmetics. This is a great resource for anyone looking for practical ideas that can help you sustain the environment and be fabulous at the same time.

To get you started, here are 3 simple ways that you can go green in style today:

  1. When shopping, toss small purchases like lipstick (or in my case, lip balm) into your purse and let the store keep the shopping bag.
  2. Take slightly shorter showers, try timing how long you are in the shower, and if you are spending 10-15+ minutes in there, make it a priority to spend less time. Shorter showers are also better for your skin and hair, since hot water is so drying.
  3. Unplug the chargers – when plugged in, a charger draws energy even if its not being used. When you unplug your cell phone, PDA, iPod, laptop, digital camera, etc; unplug the charger as well.
Make your day Green Chic and don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win your own copy!

Fab Green Find: Tilvee Giveaway!

Being the rough and tumble boy that he is, Eben gets a lot of cuts, scratches and scraps. He is also prone to eczema on his face and arms. This leaves his skin looking less than fabulous and he is not a fan of having lotions or creams rubbed on his face or body and usually yells that it burns and runs away to wipe it off.

We received a package from Tilvee {Eco Ethical Skin Care} that contained a Kid’s Mandarin Remedy Balm {for Eben} and an Antioxidant Facial Bar {for myself}. I was very excited to try the Kid’s Mandarin Remedy Balm on Eben since he had recently scraped his shoulder at the pool and burned his arm on a lantern while we were camping. {Boys.} He also had a small patch of eczema on his cheek. After his bath, I rubbed the balm into all three areas, first off, no yelling…Eben actually giggled and told me I was tickling him. {Much better.} The eczema on his cheek was gone in the morning and the shoulder scrap, being the older wound of the two looked a lot better, the burn on his arm was slightly smaller and the redness was gone.

Jayson loved the Mandarin Remedy Balm as well, he gets horribly dry, cracked hands and used the balm, even after I told him it was for Eben only. {Men.} He loved it and wanted it for himself, he said his hands felt a lot better the next day and they did look clearer than they have been in weeks.

I used the Antioxidant Facial Bar for 3 weeks and love that it doesn’t have an overpowering scent and the bar lasts FOREVER. I have been using it for 2 weeks and I would say, it should last a couple more and I didn’t have any new breakouts or dryness while using it. Also, it is a steal right now at only $7.19.

Tilvee was founded by Botanist and organic chemist Kristie McNamara in Morrison, Colorado. I love Colorado Companies! With Tilvee Kristie has created a socially and environmentally responsible company that offers luxurious, safe, innovative organic products. Kristie is passionate about green business practices, consumer education and being involved in the community of Eco conscious individuals and businesses. Tilvee products are made using only ingredients that support sustainable organic and fair trade culture. Tilvee contains NO petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, chemicals, parabens, sulfates or phthlates.

I also love that Tilvee uses only green packaging (glass jars and recycled packaging), has an Eco friendly solar powered office, uses mineral paper and environmentally friendly printing, does no animal testing and has a full ingredient disclosure list. Tilvee also has a fabulous recipe section where you can learn to make your own masques. I will definitely be doing this.

Would you like to give Tilvee a try? Kristie has been so lovely to offer ONE of my wonderful readers a Mandarin Remedy Balm to try out for yourself or on your children.

Earth Friendly Etsy Giveaway: Polarity Recycled Locket

I love jewelry, especially when it is jewelry that is made from upcyling something else. I think that anytime we can take something that no longer works, is old or worn out and make it into something new, is fabulous. You can find some of the most unique and funky jewelry finds when the artist is working with upcycled materials. Almost always you will find that their jewelry is like nothing you have seen before and you won’t see anyone else wearing the exact same piece.

Recently, I found Polarity and this fabulous jewelry company does just that, takes someone old and makes something fabulous. Polarity is a jewelry company owned by a mom named Catherine Ivins and is located on the Jersey Shore. Catherine makes fabulous necklaces from recycled auto parts. The necklaces have magnetic design lids that are interchangeable. This gives you a necklace that can be made into many different necklaces.

Catherine uses repurposed and sustainable materials in unique and beautiful ways all the while, leaving the smallest possible carbon footprint in her wake. To make her wonderful lockets she uses recycled steel parts because steel has many advantages due to its distinctive environmental fingerprint. Catherine says that more than 1/2 of the steel we see has already been recycled from scrap. It takes at least 60% less energy to produce steel from scrap than it does from iron ore. Waste disposal problems are lessened because steel can be recycled over and over again and it’s magnetic properties make it easier to separate in the waste stream.

Catherine has been so great to offer ONE of my lucky readers a Blackoutwell Locket. (mischievous fox and cat design) These lockets are designed by the very talented artist Amy Blackoutwell. This necklace comes with 3 interchangeable lids. (one of each, a fox, cat and the definition of mischievous) Catherine’s lockets are 1 1/4″ in size, have a 30″ 2mm nickel brass ball chain and 3 different lids.

Sypria is a jewelry shop with a flare for taking outdated jewelry from flea markets and found objects and giving them new life as beautiful and unique conversation pieces.
