11 Ways To Make Your Beauty Regime More Eco-Friendly

Protecting the planet is crucial, and so we must consider this in every aspect of our lives. Overconsumption and earth-damaging products are everywhere, making it difficult to protect the planet. The good news is with a conscious effort it’s easy to make a change. With these ten eco-friendly steps, you can be part of the solution, instead of the problem. Let’s explore ten ways you can make your beauty regime more eco-friendly.

1 . Research your products

If you’d like to make your beauty regime more eco-friendly it’s important that you research your products. Plenty of beauty products contain chemicals that are bad for the planet and for your health. What’s more, not all brands follow ethical practices when creating their products. To ensure that you are supporting the right brands make sure that you do your research.

The Think Dirty app makes the research process much easier. Using this app you can search for personal care products, and access info about the ingredients and brand ethics. You can look up 850,000+ cosmetics using this handy database. You can find out about the ‘dirty ingredients’ in your products, and shop for cleaner alternatives.

2. Recycle your packaging

One of the easiest ways to create a clean beauty regime is to recycle all your packaging. Avoid products that have non-recyclable packaging, and focus on those which are made with biodegradable materials.

Zero-waste stores are a great place to avoid packaging. Often, you can take along one container that you refill each time you buy a product, (for example shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, etc). When you go-green you’ll boost your health and wellness at the same time.

3. Say goodbye to face wipes

Face wipes should be avoided where possible, these disposable products are not biodegradable and create lots of waste. According to 100% Pure, ‘the average makeup wipe takes a staggering 100 years to decompose.’

There are plenty of makeup-removing cleansers that you can use as an alternative to face wipes. Simply purchase yourself a reusable muslin cloth and you’re good to go. For an eco-friendly makeup remover try the ‘Dirty Hippie Cosmetics’ makeup remover. It’s made with witch hazel, castor oils, and pressed hemp seeds.

4. Focus on natural ingredients

When you’re choosing your beauty products focus on products that are made with natural plant-based ingredients. There are so many great products that are made from plants and herbs.

If you’re looking for an amazing product for the skin take a look at Dao Drops Herbal Extracts. The Dao skin drops will improve your skin health, improve elasticity, and cleanse your skin. The drops are made with a vegan formula including ingredients such as dandelion root, sea moss, and milk thistle.

Choosing natural products is an amazing way to take great care of your skin. It’s so important to check what’s in your products and be mindful of your health. It’s also useful to know your skin type, whether normal, oily, dry, or combination. Knowing your skin type can help you choose the right products for you.

5. Make your own products

One of the best ways to clean up your beauty routine is to make your own products. It doesn’t have to be difficult, there are plenty of facemasks you can make using natural ingredients. Here are a few facemask ideas to get you started:

Turmeric & Green Tea

Make a cup of green tea and leave it to cool, add the tea to a bowl, and mix in baking powder and turmeric (one tablespoon of each). Stir the ingredients into a paste, and apply as a face mask. Green tea contains lots of antioxidants which help to keep the skin youthful and supple. Turmeric has both antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it’s useful to soothe blemish-prone skin.

Avocado & Coconut Oil:

Avocado & coconut oil makes one delicious face mask, simply mix 3 tablespoons of coconut oil and 1 avocado in a bowl. Avocado is packed with vitamins E, A, and D while coconut oil contains vitamin E, and fatty acids, all of these ingredients will help to boost the health of your skin. With the help of this yummy face mask, you’ll get healthy and glowing skin.

6. Use your products sparingly

Looking for a super simple way to be more eco-friendly? Try to use your products sparingly, focus on making your products last from your moisturizers to your lipsticks and shampoos.

Overconsumption is bad for the planet, and so many of us have products that we ever even use. If you have products that you don’t use or have barely used you can donate these to ‘Project Beauty Share’. The project works to provide beauty and personal hygiene products for women who are overcoming poverty, homelessness, addiction, and abuse.

8. Avoid disposable products

Keep your skincare routine simple with a cleanser, toner, and a moisturizer. Choose a few eco-friendly makeup products, and use these sparingly. Some of the best brands for eco-friendly makeup include 100% Pure, Axiology, Fat & The Moon, and Plant Makeup.

11. Try Multi-Purpose Products

Multi-purpose products are a great way to go green. For instance, you might choose a makeup product that works as a lipstick and a blusher. There are lots of multi-use makeup products on the market including:

5 Eco-Friendly Self-Care Practices

Self-care is essential in ensuring your physical, mental, and physical health are in good shape. However, more often than not, some self-care practices may be detrimental to mother earth. Nevertheless, there are several effective ways you can practice self-care without leaving any damage on your environment. So, how can you ensure you take the necessary self-care steps and also save the earth? Well, here are a few eco-friendly self-care practices to help you achieve this!

Have a toxic-free spa day

What better way to practice self-care than to treat yourself to a spa day of facials, mani-pedis, and relaxing oils? For an eco-friendly spa day, you should consider using a vegan facial mask. Vegan facial masks contain natural extracts to give you radiant skin while protecting the environment. For your manicures and pedicures, several beauty brands on the market offer toxic-free nail polish to give your fingers and toes some healthy, eco-friendly TLC. Finally, it would be best if you consider women’s CBD oil for your massages. Not only are they organic, but these oils also increase your relaxation and destress your tensed muscles.

Declutter your home

Sometimes, life can be overwhelming, and your home is usually proof of this. From your kitchen to your bedrooms, the overload of items displaced across the room or filled with things you do not need can affect your physical and mental help. According to researchers, decluttering is beneficial to your mental and physical wellbeing. A decluttered home makes you feel safe, reduces stress and anxiety, and increases self-esteem as it gives you a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment. Therefore, take some time to put your cluttered rooms in order. Donate old items such as books and clothes. You can also recycle recyclable items to play your part in saving the earth.

Take a refreshing, anti-inflammatory hot bath

A hot bath with oranges, lavender, Epsom salt, and grapefruit? Sounds great! Hot baths are remarkable for their relaxing and inflammation reduction tendencies. However, creating a natural citrus bath is even better! Soaking in a tub of vitamin C improves your immune system and gives your skin an envious elasticity and smoothness. Furthermore, since the properties in such a hot bath are natural, they do not affect the standard of water that is later recycled to be sent back to households.

Take a break from your phone

It sounds impossible, but it always seems impossible until it’s done! With how dependable people are on their phones, it is always challenging to take a hiatus. So much time is spent strolling through social media, and, more often than not, this affects your emotional and mental health. Giving yourself a break from your phone once in a while is another effective self-care practice. Use time you would have spent on your home doing other things you enjoy, such as reading a book, listening to music, developing a new skill, meditating, or going for a walk. To avoid spreading panic, you should do this into consideration and perhaps let your loved ones know you would be unavailable for a while.

4 Natural Ways to Enhance Your Beauty

If there is one thing everyone wants to do, it is to look and feel like they are at the prime of their life for the longest time possible. The thing about this is, you do not have to do a lot to ensure that you look beautiful. In fact, most of the things you need to do will not involve harsh chemicals that might damage your skin. Here are some natural ways that can help to improve your beauty.

Drink Water

While you might have heard this several times, it is a mantra you need to live by. The more water you drink, the clearer your skin looks. The reason for this is, water flushes out the toxins that might be in your body. Mayo Clinic recommends that you drink 3 to 4 liters of water every day. The other good thing about drinking water is that it is a free way to get good skin, and you do not have to spend money on anything other than a cool water bottle.

Exfoliate

Another natural way to ensure that you keep looking beautiful is to exfoliate. Exfoliating ensures that the dead skin is removed and your pores stay open. There are exfoliating brushes in the market if you do not want to use any product. You also have the choice of using a scrub to aid in it. The good thing about exfoliating is that you do not have to do it on a regular basis. Once or twice a week is more than enough.

Use Natural Products on Your Skin

One of the main causes of skin breakouts in most people is the products they use on their skin. Many of the products in the market are laden with chemicals that do more harm than good. Fortunately, there are many quality skin cream products made from natural ingredients. You can get started by using products like LilyAna retinol cream and ensure that all other products you use on your skin are natural. There is very little chance of your skin being affected when you use such products.

Eat Healthily

Another easy and great way to maintain your beauty is by eating healthy. You are what you eat, and if you eat the wrong kind of food, it will show on your skin. Therefore, ensure that you eat a balanced diet and pack up on plenty of fruits and vegetables. Cut down on junk food as the excess oil might get to your pores and clog them. Another bad habit you need to cut off is consuming a lot of alcohol and cigarettes. These two have dehydrating effect on your skin and are bound to make your skin age faster.

Maintaining beautiful and healthy skin is not as hard as many people make it sound. The best thing you need to do when you get started with your skincare routine is to know what works for your body’s needs and how to meet them. Ensure you use organic skincare products and incorporate them into your skincare regimen. They will keep your skin vibrant and smooth for days to come.

Eco-Friendly Ways to Transform Your Health and Beauty Routine

Taking care of your health and appearance is an important part of many people’s lives. After all, you want to look and feel your best, as well as feeling good about yourself and how you present to the world. Yet as many of us become more conscious of the need to be eco-friendly, it’s time to take a good hard look at the environmental impact of your beauty and health routines. There’s no use looking and feeling great if you’re damaging the planet at the same time. Luckily, there are simple ways you can transform your routines to be a little kinder to the world, whilst remaining kind to yourself.

Go Homemade

The beauty industry is a global market worth billions of dollars, and yet it’s incredibly damaging. One of the worst culprits is the plastic packaging used to ship your favorite beauty products to you, not to mention the evils of tiny plastic ‘exfoliating beads’ and all the other chemicals used to make popular brands. In fact, many people have discovered that simple kitchen recipes can be just as effective. For an eco-friendly approach, use ingredients like coconut oil, almonds, honey, lemon juice, and various herbal additions to create incredibly effective scrubs and moisturizers. Remember that advertising is a powerful tool, and it may have convinced you that you can’t replicate the effects of major products at home – but you can!

Be As Effective As Possible

Generally speaking, the fewer products you can consume, the better. Many people spend large amounts of money (plus potential packaging and shipping) to avail themselves of bottles of oral vitamin supplements and once-a-day medicines to help them keep feeling in top shape. This is unnecessary! IV therapy is a great way to minimize this impact by reducing all these needs to one simple treatment that you can purchase less frequently – meaning less bother for you as well! IV therapy costs are simple and not prohibitive, especially when set against the costs of subscriptions and reorders for multiple vitamins.

Research Your Brands

If you do have a product that you absolutely love and don’t feel like you can replicate by yourself, that’s okay! Just make sure you research the brands you’re buying from, as they are not all created equal. Some beauty and health brands are really doing their best to be eco-conscious and protect the planet, whilst others are more concerned with making a profit at any cost. Simple research online can tell you which is which, and then it’s up to you to put your money where your mouth is. The industry is diverse, and you will almost certainly be able to find a replica product by a more eco-friendly brand, so make sure to support companies who are also playing their part.

Conclusion

Taking care of your health and beauty, and taking care of the planet, do not need to be incompatible goals. With just a few simple steps, you can help to reduce the impact you’re making on our environment, preserving its own beauty for years to come.

Green Your Jewelry: Buy Vintage

Who doesn’t love a fabulous piece of jewelry? My favorite type of jewelry by far is vintage, better yet, vintage silver and turquoise. Besides being unique and gorgeous, vintage jewelry is fabulous and eco-friendly because it was made so long ago and there is no expense to the Earth now. You are simply loving something again that has been loved by generations before.

The mister’s Nana gave me a beautiful vintage silver and turquoise bracelet that she had in her jewelry box. I know she cherished it for many years and whenever I wear it I receive compliments – and most importantly I feel connected to her.

I love to scour thrift stores, tag sales, and estates sales for unique pieces that no one else will have. I love to imagine where the jewelry has been, who owned it, and what they did while wearing it. Can you imagine the stories that a vintage piece of jewelry could tell?

What is your favorite type of jewelry?
