What Makes Superfoods so Super + Pomegranates

We all know that eating fruits and vegetables are good for your health – providing countless vitamins, minerals and natural substances that can protect your body from chronic health problems. Right?

Adding fruits and vegetables to our busy schedules can be a challenge. That is where superfoods come to the rescue! Superfoods are packed densely with all of those good ingredients that are common in fruits and veggies – but in a smaller serving.

If you are among 60-70% of American who do not get the recommended 2+ fruit and 3+ vegetable servings per day – think of adding superfoods to your daily routine!

Each week, I would like to focus on one superfood. Let’s get started, number one on our list is pomegranate.

Pomegranates have long been revered as the first fruits of the world, packed with antioxidants, these lovely red globes offer great support to our cardiovascular systems. You can eat the seeds by themselves or drink the juice. My family loves to eat pomegranates whole, as a sorbet and sprinkled on our salads.

How do you enjoy pomegranate?
What is your favorite superfood?

Have a Lovely Green Weekend + Merry Christmas

Hello Friends. Happy Christmas Eve. Are you excited? Are your children excited? Do you have all of the presents wrapped? Is Christmas going to be a laid-back or crazy-all-over-the-place type of day for you?

Today, we are heading to Coconut Grove to spend the day with family, here – sipping mango margaritas by the pool and watching the Koi. Do you think that I will be able to keep Eben out of the pond this year?

Sunday, we are spending the day at the King Mango Strut parade in Coconut Grove. The motto of the parade is “Putting the NUT in CocoNUT Grove.” Basically if it happened in the news in 2010, you will see a parody and satire of it at the King Mango Strut. It is super fun and if you live in South Florida, you don’t want to miss it! We arrive early with bagels and mimosas and sit back, relax and wait for the fun!

While, I get ready for a day of family and fun, here are a few green things I have wanted to share with you:

– I love these monogrammed mugs from Anthropologie – so did Eben. {above photo via Eben}
North Point’s iBand shows you only need your iPhone and iPad to rock out on Christmas. {Thanks C}
– Your children will delight in receiving a personal message from Santa.
If animals were able to talk will make you giggle.
– Would you stay in an ice hotel?
– Need a sweet last minute gift? How about peppermint hot fudge?
– Want to send a last minute newsinator? You will die of laughter.
– Here are 7 last minute crafts to keep the little ones busy while you wrap gifts!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend with your friends and family. Posting will be light next week – I will be camping on the beach for a few days. However, I will check in here and there!

xo,
Sweet Greens
