There is a Koi pond at the nature center where Eben takes all of his gardening classes, but the children are no longer allowed to get in with the fish. Understandably so. Whever we are in Florida, Eben anxiously awaits our trip to Louis and Linda’s house. One of the reasons is because Louis and Linda have an enorous Koi pond in their yard. The best part is that Eben can get in it and swim with the Koi. The Koi do not seem bothered by this at all, they are very social. These lovely Koi look just like the one’s in Louis’ lovely paintings.

OMG YES!!! I would LOVE to swim with them wearing goggles so I could see them at their level…SO cool!

hmm.. i really don’t know. i guess i’m more open to the idea if i’m swimming with fish in a bigger area instead of an enclosed catchment like a pond. i think it’s great that a child has no fear to begin with. you know, like, conditioning. not that i have major issues at all. i’m just rambling 😛

I know what you mean. I don’t think that at his age, I would have willingly gotten into a pool full of Koi. I am very happy that he has no fear whatsoever of Nature.

We have a Koi pond where I work (contemporary art museum as a museum guard)…not sure how my boss would take to me jumping in the Koi pond while on the clock…(or off the clock, for that matter)
