Green Favorites: Eco Holiday Greeting Cards

I just realized that Hanukkah starts in 9 days and Christmas isn’t too far off either. And guess what? I haven’t purchased my holiday cards yet! The holidays have really snuck up on me this year. I need to decide quickly which greeting card I want to go with. Here are some that I am smitten with:

Night Owl Paper Goods: I love cards that are Eco friendly – but when they do double duty, I fall in love. These personalized wooden holiday cards that are also a photo and a calendar in one – make me swoon. Especially the Beep Beep Road Trip – these are perfect for The Sweet Greens Family. {above}

Ms Jordan Kay has a fun assortment of holiday cards made from recycled vintage records in her Etsy shop. They are bright, colorful, green and remind me of my grandmother!

And I really love everything from Paper Culture! The colors, the designs, the fact that this company really is 100% Eco friendly. I simply can’t get enough. Fantastic.

Have a Lovely Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello, Friends.

Mr. Sweet Greens and I snuck away this afternoon to finish up our holiday shopping and to pick up things that we will need for Thanksgiving dinner. Can you believe that it is next week? Wow. When you grow up – time really does fly. The best part – Mr. Sweet Greens and Eben will be home for five whole days. Fantastic.

While I plan ways that we can spend our Thanksgiving time off together – here are a few green things that I have been meaning to share with you:

– When things are organized neatly, my day just brims with happiness!
– Why aren’t all calendars this fabulous and edible?
– Sweet Greens has a Facebook Fan Page, we would love for you to join us!
– Of course, we will be seeing this movie tomorrow! Is there really a nude scene?
– West Elm: print your own cards, labels and menus for the holidays – and they are FREE!
– Planning on giving someone a cat for Christmas? This is how you wrap one up!
– The cutest wedding shoot EVER! Inspired by the movie UP.
– I wonder if Mr. Sweet Greens can whip this up for brunch tomorrow!
– Wow! Two more bottles of this organic yumminess was just delivered to my front door.

I hope you have a fabulous green weekend.

xo,
Sweet Greens

San Francisco Bans Kids’ Meal Toys. What’s Your Take?

Have you heard that San Francisco became the first major U.S. city to pass a law that requires kids’ meals meet certain nutritional criteria before they can be sold with a toy? Effective December 1, 2011, restaurants that want to include a toy with kids’ meals will need to think of the health of our children first. The new criteria states that kids’ meals would have to include fruits, veggies, a drink without excessive sugar and have less than 600 calories.

I am still not a fan of any type of toy being given away in a kids’ meal. Let’s face it, most of those toys eventually end up in the landfill. However, this is a step in the right direction – I only hope more cities follow San Francisco’s lead.

Do you think that children will eat healthier with the new law?
What’s your take?
