Do you have an inspiration board or a family bulletin board? Wouldn’t these do it yourself button thumb tacks look fabulous on it? I love Carolyn’s idea of using vintage buttons. All you need are buttons, thumb tacks and glue and viola! How lovely is that?
Does your family use a bulletin board? How do you keep your families schedules, projects, artwork organized?
Hello Everyone. How was your week? Mine was a whirlwind, but in a good way. Yesterday, we spent the afternoon with lovely friends, including Ms. Cameron Mora from Cameron Mora Photography. Isn’t spending a Friday afternoon with friends the perfect way to end a week? Then, we visited City Place, which is like Fort Collins Old Town – on Steroids. Think: a ton of high end shopping, lots and lots of people and live music performances. I picked up the perfect back to school gift for Eben, a lovely little book, that I can’t wait to share with you next week in a new series I call: Great Books for Kids. I found the book at one of my favorite shops, Anthropology. Then, the three of us shared a yummy cherry filled cupcake from Sugar Chef Cupcakes. Good times.
Tonight, we are heading to Miami to spend the evening with Grandpa Sweet Greens and his lovely and talented girlfriend, Phyllis – from Phused by Phyllis. Phyllis is making us dinner and we are bringing dessert – a little something lovely from Whole Foods. Yum. Tomorrow is going to be dedicated to the beach and I am looking forward to spending the day snorkeling with Eben. Snorkeling is his new favorite pastime and he spends hours each weekend finding the most amazing seashells. (I will share pictures next week!)
So, while I finish up my huge weekend to do list and get ready for my evening in Miami, here are few lovely green things that I have been wanting to share with you.
– These favorite summer recipes look yummy. – I love Ampersands and this one is the loveliest of the lovelies. – A baby porcupine, really? It doesn’t get much cuter than this. – Have you seen Cheyenne? This is why I am a dog person. – After a cross country move – me too! Chakra Pennywhistle has finally reopened with new designs that will make you smile. FYI: Rikkianne and I have a surprise in the making – can’t wait to share it with you! – Jennifer @ Earth Friendly Weddings finally had her baby girl. Congratulations! Sophia is beautiful. – Now this is my kind of bar. Cheers! – Need to beat the heat? Have some marble fun with your kids this weekend.
** I am going to start writing very regularly on my blog at Inhabitots. Are there any green kids subjects that you would like me to touch on?
I will see you bright and early on Monday morning. Have a lovely green weekend.
We are moving. Yes, you heard me right. We are moving! Across the country. Again! And it feels like a dream, an idea that I haven’t quite wrapped my head around.
When? Where? and Why? You ask. When? We will be moving sometime in the next 2-4 weeks. Where? We are moving to Palm Beach, Florida. Why? Hmmm. This has several answers. One being, we miss living in a hot climate near the ocean. (We lived in Palm Beach for 5 years) Two, housing prices are super duper affordable in Florida right now. Three, we have family and friends there. Four, You only live once, so you should be smiling ear to ear each and everyday! Five, did I mention the heat? The ocean?
** Bonus: One of the loveliest friends a girl could have, Cameron Mora of Green {Goody} and Cameron Mora Photography lives in Palm Beach! Isn’t it exciting that I can move back to Florida and already have a fabulous friend there?
At this point, I am overwhelmed. We have been going back and forth on warm places that we would like to live and Florida kept coming back to the top of our list. We always loved the 5 years that we spent there. So, we decided to take the plunge and listed our house last Saturday. The thought was – OK, we will list it and see what happens? Well, 5 days later our home sold. Yes, correct, my house will shortly no longer be my own. Quick frankly, right now I am in the mourning stage. I am sure that once I get to Florida, I will great! However, I am mourning the loss of our home of 3 years. The lovely, lovely friends that we have made here, Fort Collins Old Town, the mountains and everything lovely that Fort Collins has to offer.
And now there is the moving part! Moving is hard. Both physically and emotionally. Even though I know this move is the right thing to do for my family. It is still hard. One second I am happy, the next second I am crying. It is an emotionally roller coaster.
If you have a second, I could really, really use your encouragement and support.
Have you moved recently? Are you getting ready to move?
How do you prepare yourself and your family for a move?
Have a lovely green weekend.

Hello, Friends! How was your week? Can you believe it is Friday already? Do you have any fun plans for Father’s Day weekend? Today I am organizing Eben’s wardrobe. It is time to sort everything into three piles, keep, sell and donate. I do this every summer and the money that I earn from the sale of his clothing is used to purchase all of the supplies that he will need for the coming school year.
Tomorrow we are celebrating Eben’s 9th Birthday with a little get together at our neighborhood pool. It is going to be very low key and simple, with only a handful of children attending. Isn’t the pool the perfect place for a children’s birthday party?
I have always made Eben’s birthday cake or cupcakes in the past, this Rainbow Birthday Cake is calling to me. However, this year I am picking up a couple of dozen organic cupcakes from a local cupcakery.
On Sunday, Eben and I plan to surprise Mr. Sweet Greens with a morning of golf, followed by lunch at his favorite restaurant.
I want to wish all of your Dad’s a very happy, fun-filled Father’s Day weekend.
