Blooming Lotus: Nourish Your Skin with Organic Skincare Products

Blooming Lotus is a beautiful body care company founded by Jen Denslow in Kansas City’s busy art district. Blooming Lotus’ products begin as organic or wild crafted herbs and gem essences that are distilled into the finest essential oils. They are blended with love in small batches, from scratch, to ensure quality.

Blooming Lotus is a social and environmentally responsible company. They use raw organic materials, (no parabens, petroleum products, formaldehyde, hydrogenated oils or synthetic fragrance) Which you already know that I avoid at all cost. Blooming Lotus purchases fair trade ingredients, uses only recyclable containers for their products, purchases wind power credits, donates products to charitable causes, does not test on animals and supports the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Whew, that is a lot for such a small business.

Jen sent me some fabulous items to review and I absolutely love the products. My favorites were the Soulshine luminous lotion and the Fairy Mist aromatherapy mister. The soulshine is a fabulous combination of mandarin, spearmint and jasmine. The smell is clean and fresh and the lotion isn’t greasy or oily. The Fairy Mist is also very fresh and crisp, without being overwhelming. I placed both items in our main level guest bath, with hopes to hear what my friends and family thought. The response was amazing, my husband loves the lotion, which is surprising because he isn’t a lotion type of guy and I had a close friend of mine tell me that the products in my bath smell like a lovely spa. I was tickled.

Giveaway number eleven is for the wee little ones on your holiday shopping list. An adorable recycled hand printed bib from Strand Redesign. The winner will have their choice of bib, but my personal fave is Mrs. Cow in Orange. {Orange is my fave color.}

Strand Redesign is owned by Unni Strand, who lives in Norwa. Unni is 36 years old and works as a teacher instructing art and design. Unni has a particular passion for textile and also has a background in weaving. Unni says, ‘She lives in a grey house, has two children, and grows her own vegetables.’ Lovely, no? The best part is Unni’s number one rule which is when she makes her designs she uses recycled materials as much as possible. She finds her fabrics at flea markets then brings them home and washes, hand prints and turns them into new, fabulous usable items that you will love.

Giveaway number eight is two lovely little cases from Wooly Bison. These cases could be used to hold eyeglasses, coins, cosmetics or any other goodies that you don’t want rolling around in the bottom of your handbag or backpack. The owner of Wooly Bison, Ingrid creates lovely satchels, purses and bags using recycled suit jackets and vintage wool, which is then lined with other found material. I love this theme of lovely things made using suit jackets.

Wouldn’t these little cases be perfect to give as teacher gifts? Eben purchased a case similar to this one from a local Boulder artist to give to his teacher this year as a holiday gift. It is lovely. You could also stuff them with your fave cosmetics or jewelry and make the perfect gift for your best friend. I also love, love, love Wooly Bison’s satchels, my favorite is the Recycled Farrah Satchel. Wouldn’t you love to receive one of these bags this holiday season?
