Have a Lovely Green Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello, Friends. Last weekend, we finally picked up paddle boards for the whole family and we are addicted. Eben is especially good at paddle boarding, he seriously just hopped on the board and was off – he still hasn’t fallen over, not even once! I love how quickly children pick new things up.

My favorite part of paddle boarding is that you can observe the fish, stingrays, manatees, jellyfish and sharks – (yes, I saw a shark!) without disturbing them. Not to mention, it is a great workout and so much fun. Have you tried it? Do you have any fun weekend plans? While I pack up my paddle boarding gear, here are a few green things that I thought you would enjoy.

– A Manta Ray at the cleaning station.
– An ancient town built around boulders!
– Support the mission of National Geographic + get any magazine subscription for $10.
Quiche with Caramelized Onions and Smoke Gouda! Oh my.

I hope you have a sunny weekend, I will see you back here on Monday.

xo,
Sweet Greens

7 Eco-Friendly Ways to Get Grandparents Involved

September is Grandparents Month and one of the greatest gifts that you can give your children is quality time with their grandparents and great-grandparents. What a great way for them to learn new things from someone from an older generation. The next time that you are planning a get together with your children and their grandparents, consider putting an eco-friendly twist on the day’s activities. Here are my seven favorite ways to get grandparents and great-grandparents to go green while spending time with the grand-kids.

Go Green Forever Stamps

This morning I stopped by the post office to pick up stamps to mail a green-goody package to this month’s Facebook Fan Page winner.  And guess what? They have the perfect Go Green Forever stamps! Each stamp illustrates simple things that you can do to help the planet everyday. I really love the Buy Local Produce + Reuse, share rides, recycle more and use public transportation stamps.

And I found out the United States Postal Service provides eco-friendly mailing materials and meets all the standard for Cradle to Cradle Certification. Fantastic!
