How We Are Spending Our Day Off

A couple of days ago, Mr. Sweet Greens and I went paddle boarding to an area that we had never been before. We came upon a hidden estuary that had a water opening just large enough for our paddle boards to fit through. We paddled around and quickly released that this estuary was home to hundreds of corals, puffer fish and jellyfish. Thankfully, we were on our boards or we would have been stung over and over again. It was amazing to watch the jellies pulsating – I wish I dared to take my camera on the open water.

Today, I we are going to take another paddle board adventure. Eben doesn’t have school today and it is Mr. Sweet Greens’ day off. How fantastic is that? I woke up super-early to get all of my work done, so that I could spend the day with them.  I don’t know where we are going, what we will see or where we will end up – but honestly, that is part of the adventure for us. We are going to take our snorkeling gear, that way when we see something cool, we can leash our boards and jump in to get a closer look. I am grabbing my board and gear and heading to the ocean.

How are you spending the day?

Eco Friendly Fun For Fall | The Andean Collection | Giveaway

I love The Andean Collection – it is one of my favorite stops for unique, eco friendly jewelry + accessories. I love their new arrivals and think they are perfect for autumn.

I am smitten with their new line of scarves, hats, rings and belts. However, I still love their earrings, necklaces, and bracelets! I love the organic shapes, colors and simplicity of the pieces. And I love how they look fab with a pair of jeans and a tank or you can dress them up with a dress or blouse! They are the perfect all-around pieces to add to your jewelry collection. Plus, did I mention all of the pieces are eco and handmade by women artisans in South America.

Just for fun + to kick off autumn, I am going to give away an acai berry bracelet from The Andean Collection. This lovely goody is no longer available and would make the perfect accessory to your autumn wardrobe.

To enter to win, leave me a comment below telling me what your favorite eco-friendly autumn activity is. I will select a winner on September 30th. Good Luck!

***UPDATE: Linda Kish is the winner! Thank you for playing.

A Cruelty-Free Alternative To Butterfly Taxidermy

I love these hand-crocheted alpaca butterflies from Oeuf. What a great way to display butterflies in your home, minus the cruel, butterflies-pinned-in-a-shadowbox look. And since Oeuf has strict fair trade principles that they adhere to, the indigenous Bolivian women artisans that crochet these beauties are paid a living wage, which enables them to afford health care and education for their children. Fantastic.

7 Kid-Approved Grocery Store Snacks That Are Organic And Healthy

When you send your kids off to school each morning, in addition to packing a healthy lunch, you may also want to pack a healthy afternoon snack. While buying pre-packaged snacks to throw in your child’s backpack is the easiest option, it’s usually not the healthiest option. And with the added packaging, packaged snacks aren’t the best option for the environment either. Luckily, choosing snacks that are organic, healthy and free of packaging doesn’t have to take up a lot of time. Check out seven organic, kid-approved snack ideas that you can pick up at the grocery store and easily pack in a reusable snack container to send to school. Many of these snack ideas can also be purchased in bulk, which is better for your budget, too.
