Green Your Back to School | Organic Goodies Giveaway

Hello, Friends! Are you excited for back to school? Eben goes back in less than 2 weeks! I feel that one of the best things that you can do for your child and the environment (when it comes to back to school) is packing an organic lunch that encourages conservation and sustainability. What better way to do that then by packing an organic lunch in a reusable lunch box or bag.

To get your school year started out on the right foot – Annie’s Homegrown, Stonyfield YoKids, Honest Kids and Seventh Generation have teamed up to offer four of my readers a free Kids Konserve lunch sack filled with coupons to try all of their fabulous products for free.

First Day of School

Another school year begins.

Today, I was up at 5. I like to workout, get ready for the day, clean up our home, and take the dogs on a mini-walk before Eben wakes up.

Then we were out the door at 8 to get him to school on time. It just seemed so easy and seamless this year – I think having the same teachers, same classrooms and many of the same friends this year really helped! Plus, I am the Room Mom this year. Yay!

I am looking forward to a fantastic 5th grade — this is Eben’s year, I can just feel it.

When do your kids go back to school?
Are they excited? Are you?

Have a Lovely Green Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello, Friends. This is Eben’s last weekend of summer vacation. Can you believe it? I really can’t – this summer has flown by, so much so, I am already dreaming of Autumn. Even though we don’t have much of an Autumn season here in Florida, I am day-dreaming of our annual trip to North Carolina to see the leaves changing colors.

This weekend, Grandpa Sweet Greens, Eben and I are going to the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens for their Bon Festival. We plan to have a nice Japanese dinner together before the Takio Drum, Bon Dance performances and the lantern floating. The lantern floating ceremony is celebrated on the last night of Obon, when the ancestors are believed to depart for the other world, their journey illuminated by farewell fires. At the Morikami, you can purchase a lantern sleeve and write a letter on it to a friend or family member who has passed away. These lanterns are then floated on bodies of water, in this case a large lake in the Japanese gardens. (I will make sure to take some photos to share with you next week.)

While I think of what to write to my lovely grandparents that have passed on, here are few green things to keep you busy this weekend:

– Here are some green back to school supplies. Monday, I will be giving away a basket of my faves.
– Wow. You can now buy YogaVive by the case and for only $25. The perfect school snack.
– Looking for ways to recycle your old denim – here are 7.
– The perfect dessert made with Green & Black’s White & Dark Chocolate Mousse.
– Did you know Apple Cider Vinegar can make you beautiful!
– How awesome, the Fig + Sage gals were invited to spend the day at Terrain. (Jealous)

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, I will see you back here on Monday.

xo,
Sweet Greens

New: Fluf | Apple and Orange Organic Snack Packs

I am a huge fan of small reusable snack bags – I can not stand plastic baggies, they are so wasteful and toxic! These new apple and orange snack packs from Fluf make me smile. I love the super cute fruit prints and these little cuties are machine washable. How great is that? Made from organic cotton and printed with water-based pigments they are free of BPA, phthalates and lead. Wouldn’t these be perfect for school snacks for the littles?

What is your favorite way to tote snacks?
