Hello, Friends. How are you enjoying June? Is your weather starting to warm up? Yesterday was Eben’s last day of school. How time flies! Today, we are moving into our new space – so we are busy, busy, busy! I can’t wait to tell you all about it.
When I am finished unpacking, I want to snuggle down with Eben and a couple of delicious oranges. How are you spending your Thursday?
For babies and kids, rub-a-dubbing in the bathtub is a fun way to get clean. However, bathtub injuries happen each year when children slip in the tub or on the bathroom floor, hit their head, and even drown. With this in mind, it’s critical to protect your child from bath tub dangers. You can learn my six simple steps to keep your children safe during bath time.
Recycling is a simple way for consumers to help the environment by taking a product that has reached the end of itโs useful life and transforming it into another product. Recycling helps to preserve valuable resources and is essential for the health of our environment and communities.
Many of you probably are already utilizing curbside recycling bins for household paper, glass, aluminum, and plastic recycling. However, recycling goes well beyond the curb — there are recycling services available for an array of other common household products from electronics and prescriptions to automotive parts and hazardous waste.
This month at Cascadian Farm, learn how to find recycling facilities in your area for products that have reached their end of life and that you aren’t sure how to dispose of properly.
Hello, Friends! How are you? Are you ready for a three day weekend? What are your exciting plans?
We are getting ready for a camping trip to John D. MacArthur Beach State Park. We plan to spend three whole days in the “real Florida”, hiking, canoeing, biking, snorkeling, and soaking up rays on the beach.
John D. MacArthur Beach State Park has a great variety of butterflies, birds, plants, and sea turtles. I have my fingers crossed that I will finally see a sea turtle in the wild. (Since, I am the only one who hasn’t seen one – Eben and Mr. Sweet Greens swim with them all the time!)
Have you been to John D. MacArthur Beach State Park? Is there anything that we must do or see while we are there? What are your favorite camping activities?
Most of our furniture is made from a rustic wood – pieces that we purchased when we were first married and living in Salt Lake City. The great thing about rustic wooden pieces is that when you move back and forth across the country three times, the furniture looks the same. Yay! for rustic wood. However, after almost 13 years with the same furniture, I am ready for a change. I don’t want to sell the pieces because they are well made, I love them and I think it is more eco-friendly to work with what you already have.
The solution: we have decided to stain them a darker, more modern color. I have to admit I am a little scared. This isn’t the first time that I have suggested staining the furniture, only to chicken out at the last minute and leave it alone.
What are your thoughts? Do you think the furniture will look better a darker color? Or should I stain only certain pieces and leave the others the natural color? To give you an idea of what I am working with, here is a list of the pieces that I have; a buffet (seen above), large chest, end tables, (first picture) bar stools, dining room set (that we haven’t used in ages) head board, bookcase, armoire, to night stands, dresser, desk, and a decorative shelf. I would appreciate your feedback because Mr. Sweet Greens is getting anxious and wants to start staining away.
