Meditation Can Help Improve Your Child’s School Performance

Transcendental Meditation can have a profound impact on many facets of our lives and a new study shows that it can also improve children’s academic performance. The study conducted at a California public middle school on 189 students showed that 41 percent of the meditating students gained at least one level in math performance. Students with the lowest levels of academic performance showed a significant improvement in overall academic achievement.  If Transcendental Meditation can improve middle school students’ academic performance then why not try meditation with younger children? Plus, there’s a chance you may find it’s beneficial to other areas of your child’s lifestyle. Speaking from personal experience I can tell you that Transcendental Meditation has affected Eben’s life. I recently wrote about ways to implement meditation into your child’s lifestyle at Inhabitots. You can add it to your own lifestyle too!

Even if you do not purchase bottled watter, (good for you!) this little video is full of great information that you can pass on to others.

What is your favorite bottled water alternative?

The Living Space | Eco-Friendly Home Decor | Fort Collins, Colorado

I was going through my pictures from our last days in Fort Collins, Colorado and came across pictures from my trip to The Living Space. It’s a lovely little shop in Old Town, full of many eco-friendly home decor items, including this sweet Recycled Rover. (first picture) It opened a few days before our big move and I had to stop in and check it out before we left. If you live in Fort Collins or will be in town, you should definitely stop by and take a peek.

HOW TO: Make Kid-Friendly Organic Granola Bars

Granola bars are a great snack to boost your child’s energy in the afternoon, but many of the store-bought varieties have long ingredient lists including with high fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated oils and other not-so good ingredients. The end result has a nutty chocolate-fruity taste and they take less than an 45 minutes to make, including bake time. Jump over to Inhabitots for my step-by-step instructions.
