Winter Camping: Sebastian Inlet, Florida
During the holiday break, my family went camping at Sebastian Inlet State Recreation Center. Sebastian Inlet State Park is known for it’s great surfing and fishing. However, no surfing for us – it was a cold weekend, instead we spent our time beach-combing, strolling through the nearby nature centers and treasure hunting.Eben spent a better part of one day collecting, examining and returning these giant starfish to the surf. They were everywhere, it was a fantastic experience!
We also spent an entire afternoon, checking out the artifacts from the 1715 Spanish Fleet that sank along the treasure coast at the McLarty Museum. After seeing all of gold bars, doubloons, jewelry and other artifacts, we couldn’t help but walk along the coastline looking for treasures. Above: Eben is trying to trick us into thinking that he found treasure – no such luck!
This weekend, we are off to another adventure – this time on Florida’s west coast. I can’t wait to share with you.
Do you have a favorite camping spot in Florida?
I would love to hear about your experiences.

Okeeheelee Nature Center + A Tortoise
A couple of days ago we spent the afternoon strolling Okeeheelee Nature Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Okeeheelee Nature Center consists of 2.5 miles of winding trails through 90 acres of wetlands and pine flatwoods. We had a great time just being in nature together – snapping photos, chatting and walking hand in hand. However, this little guy was the highlight of our stroll, isn’t he fantastic? What is the best animal that you have encountered on an afternoon stroll?
