Have a Lovely Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello, Friends.

Mr. Sweet Greens and I snuck away this afternoon to finish up our holiday shopping and to pick up things that we will need for Thanksgiving dinner. Can you believe that it is next week? Wow. When you grow up – time really does fly. The best part – Mr. Sweet Greens and Eben will be home for five whole days. Fantastic.

While I plan ways that we can spend our Thanksgiving time off together – here are a few green things that I have been meaning to share with you:

– When things are organized neatly, my day just brims with happiness!
– Why aren’t all calendars this fabulous and edible?
– Sweet Greens has a Facebook Fan Page, we would love for you to join us!
– Of course, we will be seeing this movie tomorrow! Is there really a nude scene?
– West Elm: print your own cards, labels and menus for the holidays – and they are FREE!
– Planning on giving someone a cat for Christmas? This is how you wrap one up!
– The cutest wedding shoot EVER! Inspired by the movie UP.
– I wonder if Mr. Sweet Greens can whip this up for brunch tomorrow!
– Wow! Two more bottles of this organic yumminess was just delivered to my front door.

I hope you have a fabulous green weekend.

xo,
Sweet Greens

Green Gift Guide: Home for the Holidays

Green-Gift-Guide-Home
Are you getting in the holiday spirit? Does it feel a little too early? I can’t help it, I am excited for the holidays! I am ready to start decorating our home – Mr. Sweet Greens however, may ask me to wait – at least until Thanksgiving is over.

Here are few things that I think would really get your home green and cozy for the upcoming holiday. And in most cases are home accessories that can be enjoyed all year long.

Bay and Rosemary Wreath. I love the simple design of this fragrant and lovely wreath from Organic Bouquet. And it’s organic and grown in California to boot!

Recycled Standing Glass Snowman. This lovely little snowman could be enjoyed all winter long. He is made with hand-blown recycled glass, you can pick him up from Uncommon Goods.

Eco Holiday Stocking. This fantastic stocking from The Beehivery is made from free trade coffee bean bags. Simple. Sustainable. Perfect.

Beautiful Border Pillow. Ok, so this pillow isn’t technically a holiday decoration – but I can pretend! I love everything from Chakra Pennywhistle and wouldn’t this pillow look great on your sofa this holiday season?

Felt Garland. Because who wouldn’t want a handmade, fair trade garland from Branch this holiday season?  I love that proceeds from the sale help provide an income stream for sheepherders and artisans in the Rajasthan State of India – and it will look adorable draped across your mantle.

Bird Decoupage Organic Duvet Cover and Sham. This beautiful organic duvet and sham set from Pottery Barn could be used year round. I love the mix of natural elements, birds and calligraphy. I’ll take one queen size please. Lovely.

Do you have particular items that you bring out to get you in the holiday spirit?
What are they? I would love to hear about them!

San Francisco Bans Kids’ Meal Toys. What’s Your Take?

Have you heard that San Francisco became the first major U.S. city to pass a law that requires kids’ meals meet certain nutritional criteria before they can be sold with a toy? Effective December 1, 2011, restaurants that want to include a toy with kids’ meals will need to think of the health of our children first. The new criteria states that kids’ meals would have to include fruits, veggies, a drink without excessive sugar and have less than 600 calories.

I am still not a fan of any type of toy being given away in a kids’ meal. Let’s face it, most of those toys eventually end up in the landfill. However, this is a step in the right direction – I only hope more cities follow San Francisco’s lead.

Do you think that children will eat healthier with the new law?
What’s your take?
