Smiling Planet: Eco Friendly Non Toxic Plates for Green Kids.

Since we are moving, we have decided to donate what is left of our plastic ware. I want to start our new home as fresh and toxic free as possible. With that being said, we still need plates that Eben can take outside to eat on the patio. (I don’t want my good dishes left outside or accidentally broken.) The solution: Smiling Planet’s Eco friendly and Non Toxic Plates for Kids. Aren’t they adorable? Why are they just for kids? I would love to use these for outside family dining. {wink}

Do you have dinnerware that is for outside use only?
Which is your favorite design of Smiling Planet’s plates?

Super Big News – Sweet Greens is Moving

fort-collins-house

We are moving. Yes, you heard me right. We are moving! Across the country. Again! And it feels like a dream, an idea that I haven’t quite wrapped my head around.

When? Where? and Why? You ask. When? We will be moving sometime in the next 2-4 weeks. Where? We are moving to Palm Beach, Florida. Why? Hmmm. This has several answers. One being, we miss living in a hot climate near the ocean. (We lived in Palm Beach for 5 years) Two, housing prices are super duper affordable in Florida right now. Three, we have family and friends there. Four, You only live once, so you should be smiling ear to ear each and everyday! Five, did I mention the heat? The ocean?

** Bonus: One of  the loveliest friends a girl could have, Cameron Mora of Green {Goody} and Cameron Mora Photography lives in Palm Beach! Isn’t it exciting that I can move back to Florida and already have a fabulous friend there?

At this point, I am overwhelmed. We have been going back and forth on warm places that we would like to live and Florida kept coming back to the top of our list. We always loved the 5 years that we spent there. So, we decided to take the plunge and listed our house last Saturday. The thought was – OK, we will list it and see what happens? Well, 5 days later our home sold. Yes, correct, my house will shortly no longer be my own. Quick frankly, right now I am in the mourning stage. I am sure that once I get to Florida, I will great! However, I am mourning the loss of our home of 3 years. The lovely, lovely friends that we have made here, Fort Collins Old Town, the mountains and everything lovely that Fort Collins has to offer.

And now there is the moving part! Moving is hard. Both physically and emotionally. Even though I know this move is the right thing to do for my family. It is still hard. One second I am happy, the next second I am crying. It is an emotionally roller coaster.

If you have a second, I could really, really use your encouragement and support.
Have you moved recently? Are you getting ready to move?
How do you prepare yourself and your family for a move?
Have a lovely green weekend.

Perfect for Summer: Amenity Home: Fern Collection

Isn’t it amazing how something as simple as changing the bedding on your bed or adding a runner to your table, can change the entire look of room? Making these simple changes can freshen up any room in your home and make it look as though you have it completely remodeled.

Have you seen the Spring/Summer collection at Amenity Home? I am in love. This is exactly what I want to freshen up and add a little pop of color to my bedroom. I already have the Fern throw pillow in cream and gray (above picture) and River throw pillow in espresso (below picture) and they add a touch of color and fantastic design to my living room.

And now it is time to freshen up my bedroom. We have had the same duvet and shams for who knows how long and although it is a beautiful design, I am ready for a change. I would love to have the Fern Duvet Cover in Celery and Cream. Isn’t it calm, simple and beautiful?

The best part? Each limited-edition, large-scale image is printed individually with Eco-friendly dyes onto 300 thread count cotton that’s been organically grown and processed. Each piece is printed and sewn locally in Los Angeles, California. And since each one is printed individually, each is unique, just like a piece of priceless art. Isn’t that fantastic?

How about you? Are you considering freshening up your living room or bedroom?
What colors would you choose from the Fern Collection?

How to Make Your Own Pomegranate Sorbet

I love pomegranates and miss them dearly when they are out of season, (as they currently are!) However you can still get your pomegranate fix with a homemade Pomegranate Sorbet using Pom Wonderful! Can’t you just imagine yourself sitting on your patio in the sun, savoring every yummy bite?
What you will need:
1 ¾ Pom Wonderful Pomegranate Juice
Juice of One Organic Lemon
4 ¼ Oz. Superfine Organic Sugar
An Ice cream Maker

Add the lemon juice in a saucepan with the sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of the pomegranate juice. Heat, stir over medium-low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat, leave to cool a little and stir in the rest of the pomegranate juice.

Pour the mixture into your ice cream machine and churn, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Serves 4.

Doesn’t this sound yummy for summer?
Do you have a favorite sorbet or ice cream recipe?
Which is your favorite? Ice cream? Sorbet? Fro Yo?

** A huge thank you to Annette Willis at Chasing Lightening Bugs for sharing her favorite recipe from Apples for Jam, by Tessa Kiros. I modified it, so that I could use Pom Wonderful instead of fresh pomegranates, since they are out of season.
