On the 1st Day Of Etsy… Recycled Christmas StockingGiveaway

♪ My true love gave to me, a stocking made from recycled suit coats. ♫

The holidays are right upon us, and my first giveaway from the 12 Days of Etsy will make your mantle look lovely this holiday season. It is a lovely stocking made by the fabulous Etsy shop Mandinka Designs. This stocking is a “patchwork of yummy soft wools and cottons on the outside, and fully lined with satiny suit coat lining on the inside.” You can hang this lovely stocking from your mantle and stuff it full of goodies for the holidays and then when the holidays are over, use it anywhere in your house as a lovely decoration.

Mandinka Designs is owned by Mandy Curl with the assistance of her mother Liz. Mandy and Liz start the design process by hunting through their local thrifts for lovely suit coats with fabulous linings and labels. When they take suit coats home the magic begins with the designing of their lovely handbags, totes, accessories, toys and stockings. Every part of the suit coat is used, even the leftover pieces are used to make their sweet little bugs. rack. Green Community: West End Tavern Offers Organic Foods in Boulder, Colorado

While my family was in town for Thanksgiving, we spent Friday afternoon in Boulder. While we were there we had lunch at The West End Tavern. The West End Tavern serves yummy home style cuisine in a fun rooftop setting. It was a crisp day but the rooftop heaters kept us warm and toasty. It was nice to sit outside with a fabulous view of the mountains – the sun shining on our faces.

The mister ordered a Deschutes Green Lakes organic Amber and I had a glass of sustainable Next Pinot Noir. I loved the organic and sustainable choices on the menu. 

My favorite part of The West End Tavern are it’s eco practices. The West End Tavern recycles and composts nearly 100% of their discards. All of their paper products and straws are bio-degradable too.
The West End Tavern are PACE certified and 100% of their energy for the restaurant is offset with wind power and the restaurant uses natural beef, chicken and port and source cleaner ingredients that are natural local and organic. West End Tavern supports fisheries and purveyors that are environmentally conscious and that fish legally from sustainable waters. The West End Tavern also uses bio-degradable trash bags, dishwashing detergents and cleaning supplies.

Green Tips:: Donate Your Dress

If you are like me, you may have dresses in your closet from your prom or other formal event from your teen years? Please tell me I am not the only one who still has dresses in my closet from then? Why I held on to them for this long is beyond me, but there they are collecting dust and taking up space in my closet. I found a great way for these dresses to make their way across the dance floor again. Donate My Dress is the first national campaign designed to encourage girls around the country to donate their prom and special occasion dresses to those who cannot afford them for their prom, sweet 16, quinceanera or other formal event. You can donate a dress or receive one through Donate My Dress.
