I think one way that you can make sure that you always have a reusable bag with you when you are out and about is finding a reusable bag that is fabulous. You won’t forget a bag, if you love, love, love it. Bringing your own bag with you wherever you go is one of the simplest ways that you can be Earth Friendly.
I love great design and love products that are Eco friendly and have a great design. This week’s Earth Friendly Etsy Shop is Red Bridge Studio is a textile design company located in Brooklyn, New York. All of Red Bridge Studio’s designs are original and hand screen printed. Red Bridge Studio makes the loveliest items for your home that are fabulous. My favorite items are the pillows and totes. The pillows are amazing and would look fabulous in my living room. The Paradise Cotton Totes are made using recycling textiles which only makes them more Earth friendly. This is a large roomy bag with long shoulder straps which makes it perfect to take with you on a trip to the farmer’s market or the library.

Eco Date Night With Eben + Thanksgiving Eve Plans

Whenever the mister has to work late, Eben and I make a night of it. Eben laughed and said, “Hey Mom, we are having a date night tonight since Daddy has to work late?” Then he laughed again and said, “Next time if Dad doesn’t have to work, we should get him a babysitter.” So that is what we did, we had a ‘date night’. First we went to our guitar lessons, then we went thrifting, Eben found some books and a perfect little ceramic turtle. Then we we had a dinner of Greek salads, French Onion Soup and a baguette. Followed by an hour at our library reading in front of the fireplace. It was lovely to spend quality time chatting with him.

Today, I woke up early because my parents and brother arrive this afternoon. I want everything to be ready so that when they get here we can start to have fun right away. Our plans so far include me and Eben baking pies with my Mom. I am super excited for this, since the three of us have never baked together. Then we are going to spend the afternoon and early evening strolling around our lovely old town followed by dinner at one of our favorite local Mexican restaurants. Then tomorrow, my sister, brother-in-law and my beautiful nephews and niece will be here for Thanksgiving Dinner. I. can’t. wait.

My fashion style is very simple, so when I get dressed I love jewelry that gives my outfit a punch of color. Something that when I wear it people are naturally drawn to it. I love to wear an outfit that is simple, yet classy and dress it up with fab jewelry. You would be amazed how great a simple white tank will look when paired with a great piece of jewelry. It has a huge impact.

I recently received some jewelry from The Andean Collection. I received the 3 in 1 long stranded acai necklace, the diamond tagua earrings, and the pambil bracelet with matching earrings. All of these pieces are fabulous and add that visual impact of color that I desire, are made of natural materials that are good for the Earth and the people who inhabit it and the jewelry is touchable and fun. There is something for everyone.

The Andean Collection creates socially conscious fashion that is fabulous. The idea behind The Andean Collection is to create great fashion forward design that has a positive impact on our planet while providing artisans a path out of poverty by using fair trade principals. The Andean Collection pays its artisans a fair wage and also provides the artisans a share in the profits by giving them partial ownership of The Andean Collection.

The Andean Collection was founded by Amanda Judge who currently lives in Manhattan’s East Village. Amanda grew up spending hours with her godmother creating necklaces out of glass beads. Amanda holds a M.A. in Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School at Tufts University where she studied development economics and poverty reduction strategies. Amanda created The Andean Collection in September 2008, in order to introduce the indigenous artisans of northern Ecuador.

Another thing that I love about The Andean Collection is that the natural materials that are used to make the jewelry line, such as seeds, are sustainably harvested from the South American rain forests. This means that the forests were not harmed for these seeds. My favorites are the pieces of jewelry made with Acai and Tagua seeds.

Earth Friendly Etsy: Art And Philanthropy Art Giveaway

This week’s Earth friendly Etsy shop is owned by Rebecca Peragine of Art and Philanthropy. Rebecca is a handmade art and textile artist who lives in a lovely home in the woods of Wisconsin with her husband and creative consultants – her sons!

Rebecca designs beautiful eco-friendly stationary, pillows, napkins, aprons, library totes, and fabulous Giclée canvas’ and prints. Her use of vibrant colors and sweet birds is captivating – aren’t they sweet?. Her favorite materials to use are recycled fibers, newspapers, magazine paper, foreign romance novels, vintage fabrics, and pictures.
