We woke up to find several inches of snow on the ground. I still can’t believe it is only October and we have so much snow. It started snowing as we were getting ready for bed last night and it hasn’t stopped. School was canceled so Eben is enjoying a nice quiet day at home. How lucky is that? Sounds like the perfect day to snuggle up on the sofa with a nice cup of tea, don’t you think? I also think now would be a good time to bring in the patio furniture.
When it is time for the kids to head out to trick-or-treat this Halloween, please have them walk door to door. I have seen a new trend where parents drive their kids from house to house. Please consider the amount of C02 that goes into the air as you drive around and idle all night waiting for the kids.
Thankfully, we live in a huge neighborhood that is walkable and safe for the kids to walk from door to door this Halloween. We could spend the entire evening out trick-or-treating, door to door, and never hit every house in our neighborhood.
We, however, have lived in rural areas where the houses aren’t close together. We would spend the afternoon and evening with our close friends and trick-or-treat in their large neighborhood. If you live in a very rural area, consider taking the kids to a nearby friend’s neighborhood, or you could go to a local shopping area or library to do some trick or treating.
You could trick or treat at home if these are not your options. Everyone could dress in their costumes and go to room tricking and treating. You could then provide a fun, spooky movie, popcorn, and some fun treats for the rest of the evening.
So, are you excited for Halloween yet? Oooo, I am. One of my favorite things about Halloween is watching Mr. Sweet Greens carry all 6, yes 6 huge bins of Halloween decorations up from the basement. Eben and I love to unwrap all of the decorations, it is so exciting to us, like it is the first time. It is fun to reminisce about where we got them or when we made them. My favorite decorations are the ones we made together as a family or the few vintage pieces that we have. I think it will be lovely to one day, give all of these pieces to Eben and watch him enjoy them with his own family. Halloween heirlooms, I love it.

The owner of All Things White, Kathi says it is because white is timeless and classic, calm and serene, you can dress it up or down, it goes with everything, if your accents are white they will fit with every other crazy color you have, a crisp white shirt always works, every flower looks great in a white vase, if you have a good collection of white accessories you can add them to anything in your wardrobe and white just works. fun, right?
Kathi @ All Things White lives in a mostly all white house, which makes her happy. I love it. Kathi has a background in design and is inspired by wonderful vintage items, estate sales, beautiful interiors, anything white, her garden, wonderful fabric and so many lovely blogs.
