Earth Friendly Etsy Giveaway: La Alicia – Recycled Goodies

This week’s Earth Friendly Etsy giveaway is from La Alicia, a fun little shop opened by Alicia Collina-Ashby in December of 2007. La Alicia is full of Earth Friendly frills including; earrings, bobbies, clocks and purses, all made out of recycled materials. Her fave materials to use are recycled paper, maps and buttons. Alicia is offering a Mini Eco Clutch. Wouldn’t this be the perfect little bag to grab on your way out the door. It is made using last month’s magazines, catalogs and other uninvited mail. Isn’t it a fantastic collage of colors, words and images.

Alicia is inspired by giving new life to objects that would otherwise find their way into the landfill. Alicia’s mission is to make our society a more Earth friendly place to live and she is committed to doing three good things for the Earth each day. She recycles, uses fabric shopping bags and limits her car trips. This year she is also focusing on avoiding plastic and using more food grade stainless steel, shopping at her local Farmer’s Market and having at least three meat free meals a week. Fantastic.

Jump over to LaAlicia and check out her fantastic store and leave a comment to enter!

I will choose a winner on October 4th!

You also also share this giveaway on Facebook, Twitter, Technorati, Digg, Stumble Upon, Kirtsy, your blog, email it to a friend or anyway that you would like for an extra entry each, just leave a separate comment for each that you do.

* A huge thank you to Alicia at La Alicia for sponsoring this giveaway!

** UPDATE: WINNER: Laura Kirk is our winner! Congratulations and enjoy.

I have had the pleasure of viewing Alicia’s work in person and can tell you that even these great phototos don’t do justice to the real thing. Whoever wins the bag is going to love it!

It’s encouraging to see how La Alicia takes colorful left-overs from our paper, bits & bobs and recycles them into things that are attractive and useful. I like the coin pouches & earrings best. Maybe I’ll become a chica eco-nista!

  29. Anonymous September 26, 2010 at 3:38 am #

Hello. I just found this website, and I think that you have some great ideas! I love recycling things. Some things I recycle: those envelopes that come with your bills (reuse them for mailing letters), bubble wrap & mailers (reuse), deli potato salad containers & glass jars from jelly, etc. (sort screw, nails, nuts, bolts, etc. into them) Why throw these things away when they can become something useful and save you money?

Hi. I just found out this link from some other site and I am really amazed to look at the stuff. Its marvellous. I never knew one can make such useful stuff from waste things. Specially in my part of the world, there is nothing as such going on. And I like the slogan “SWEET GREENS”

Hats off !! I would really love to get this purse so that I can show people around me whats going on around to make useless things useful.

    Thanks..

I love everything, very nice. Especially the Eco-chic Tutti Fruitti headband and all the cute little bobby pins. Lots of times eco green type items don’t look like things you’d really want to wear or carry around, but all of your items are wearable and cute.
