Summer break is quickly approaching and I have been considering the ways that Eben will spend his 2.5 month vacation. Since Eben is an only child, I like to send him to week long summer camps here and there throughout the summer – it gives him a chance to try new things and meet new people.
This summer, I signed him up for three different week-long camps, two are adventure-type camps and the other is an environmental studies camp. The first will have a focus on ocean kayaking, snorkeling and surfing,. The second will be spent paddle boarding, wind-surfing, swimming and doing yoga. And the last will be the environmental studies camp where he will enjoy netting small ocean critters and identifying them in the intracoastal, helping to care for injured marine animals, checking on turtle nests on the beach, and watching live wildlife presentations.
He is really excited! As I was signing him up for these camps – I was thinking how much I would love to go to summer camp! Wouldn’t it be fun to have week long adventures sprinkled throughout your summer. Maybe, next summer I will plan a family summer camp adventure! Ha!
Are your kids off to summer camp soon? Do they spend just the days at camp or do they go away for the entire summer? I don’t think I could stand not seeing Eben for the whole summer! I would miss him too much.
