Day Tripper

Last Saturday afternoon we decided at the last minute to get away for the day and night. We drove two hours up the Poudre Canyon until we found a campsite that was well off the paved road and nestled in between the trees and the rushing Poudre River. We found a great little campsite, {there were only 3} and started to pitch our tent and collect fire wood. Eben took to this immediately and started to find sticks and large pieces of bark to collect.

Once we had our camp established, we ventured out to explore the beautiful river. It was so nice to sit back with the sun on our faces and hear nothing but the river and an occasion upset squirrel. (Apparently, we were enjoying the river in their favorite spot) It was so nice to watch Eben playing in the water, catching caterpillars, observing butterflies and just being a kid.

Later in the evening, we built a nice big fire and enjoyed our campfire dinners, courtesy of Jayson, and then we made the traditional S’mores. We snuggled down in our sleeping bags and enjoyed the quiet of the forest together. It was really nice to spend just 24 hours away from it all. There were no distractions, no agenda, just the outdoors and my family, You should definitely get away, even if it is only for 24 hours. It is totally worth it.

Where are you off to this weekend?

Enjoy Cupcakes In a Vintage Camper – You Know You Want To

I love, love, love cupcakes. Not only are they delicious, but they are adorable too! Plus, doesn’t everyone need a little piece of cake that they can eat with their hands? I am quite smitten with Enjoy Cupcakes. Enjoy Cupcakes can transport cupcake goodness to your wedding or special event in their Vintage Shasta Trailer. Yes, please. I think I need to start planning a special event.

Have you ever used cupcakes for your wedding or special event?
Would you?

Reform School: Fantastic Orange Amish Made Scooters

Eben knows how to ride a bicycle, but completely prefers riding his scooter instead. After seeing these fantastic Amish Made Scooters from Reform School, I now understand. Aren’t they great? I love, love, love the color, orange is my fave. And the basket, oooo, the basket. I think if I had this cute scooter, I would prefer it over my bicycle as well.
Would you ride a scooter?
Or stick with your bicycle?

The Great Blue Hole, Belize

Ever since I read the book ‘The Lovely Bones’ several years ago, sink holes have frightened me. However, The Great Blue Hole in Belize is super fascinating to me. And a little frightening.

How does this picture make you feel?
Would you scuba dive into it?
Take a boat ride across it?

Back from Florida – Only to Go Back in 12 days: The Countdown Begins

Hello, Friends! We are back from our 10 day stay in Florida, OK well, 2 of us are back. Mr. Sweet Greens’ is at his first day of work as we speak. It is fantastic that he found a job so quickly! I just thought it would happen once we had actually moved to Florida, silly me, right? Now, I have to pack my entire house by myself. Is that crazy or what?

We rented a 3 bedroom villa on a lake in a lovely little community in Palm Beach County. We decided renting for a while would give us a better idea of exactly where we want to live, plus it removed a lot of the stress of moving so quickly. The community that we will be renting in has a large pool that is easily accessible from the walkway around the lake. In fact, we can see the pool from our patio. Eben’s school is right down the street, next door to the library! You know we will be stopping frequently after school. There is also a Whole Foods directly across the street from our community. We can either walk or ride our bikes to get our groceries. I can’t wait.

I am super excited to get to spend a lot of quality time with Eben’s great grandparents, my father and mother in law and other family and friends. Especially, the lovely Cameron Mora, my best friend from early parenthood. We have been friends since our first born children were tiny tots, but haven’t seen each other in years. We were able to see each other during our stay in Florida and it was if we didn’t skip a beat. Great friendships are just like that, agree?

So, for the next couple of weeks, I will be packing and packing and then do a little more packing. In the process, I am going to try to squeeze in time to blog, build Lego’s with Eben, take a water aerobics class or two and enjoy my lovely friends here in Colorado for a couple more weeks. Ok, I am exhausted already!

Thank you for being here through this huge transition! You guys are the best listeners. 🙂

xo,
Sweet Greens
