Happy Hanukkah!

Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah! Hooray for Hanukkah!

The mister has been busy making Latkes and Kugel all day – I can’t wait for dinner. The food is one of the best parts of the holiday. In fact, I said to the mister this afternoon, “Can you imagine, if I had never met you I probably wouldn’t have ever tried these foods!” He smiled.

The mister’s side of the family is Jewish and my family celebrates Christmas. The mister and I have fused our holiday traditions together, we like to say that we celebrate Solstice. We have a decorated tree, light the menorah each night, eat yummy Jewish goodies and open presents for eight nights! Really, it is the best of both worlds! And Eben LOVES it – this is the perfect way for him to experience a little bit of both of us.

Do any of you celebrate mixed holiday traditions at your home? What is a good balance for you?

To all of you who also celebrate the Festival of Lights – have a lovely Hanukkah!
