Flax Seed: A Sprinkle a Day, Keeps the Doctor Away
Do you include flax seed or flax seed oil in your daily menu? You should – flax seeds are packed full of heart-healthy substances. These nutty flavored seeds taste delicious and with a dose a Omega-3 fatty acids, Lignans and Fiber – you can’t go wrong. You can now find flax in cereals, snack bars and many other items. However, I prefer to add a couple of tablespoons to our morning smoothies. Easy Peasy. You can pick up a 48 ounce package of Flax USA Organic Golden Flax Seed from Costco for $7.99. What a deal!
* I have heard that you should check with your doctor before starting flax supplements if you have a bleeding disorder or if you are a male with or at high risk of prostate cancer.
Do you add flax to your everyday menu?
If so, what do you add it to?

BPA-Free Plastics are Harmful Too?
On Friday, while listening to one of my favorite NPR programs – there was a brief break for the news. The
news – that a new study shows that most plastics, even BPA-free plastics may contain estrogenic chemicals. I had a feeling that was coming – I mean, we all know that plastics leach chemicals and I have always found it hard to believe that those chemicals are not harmful. When it comes down to it, plastics should not be used in cups, food storage products or any food packaging – period. This is the main reason that Casa de Sweet Greens uses glass containers. Yikes.
Will you continue to use BPA-free plastic food containers?
Or will you switch to a glass, clay or ceramic alternative?
