Hooray for Halloween – my favorite holiday of them all! I am so excited for Eben to get out of school – one of his close friends is coming over early to carve pumpkins, sip apple cider, listen to spooky music and have dinner with us.

After dinner, we are off on a trick or treating adventure. So fun! I am dressed in my finest witches attire (it’s my fall back costume – I have worn it off and on for years!) – when I am not a VooDoo witch or a Day of the Dead gal. It’s a fun simple costume that is easy to dress up with fun jewelry and makeup!

Do you dress up? Does your family do themed costumes? Or is each person something unique? Or do you stick to jeans and boots and leave the dressing up to the littles? Hello, Friends! Happy Halloween! I am so excited – I am all dressed up (can you guess what I am?) and can’t wait for this evening’s festivities. This year Eben really wanted to be Lord Pein from the graphic novel Naruto. He sprung this idea on me last Thursday – 1 night before his first middle school Halloween dance. So we rushed home, grabbed an old vampire cape from our dress up closet and some other supplies from the craft bin and got to work. Tons of measuring, cutting and sewing – 3 hours later.

Hello, Friends! How are you? Tonight is Eben’s first middle school dance – Oh my goodness! My baby is growing up – you guys! We have been so busy, his Halloween costume was put on the back burner. Last night, Eben and I spent 3 hours creating and sewing his costume using pieces from an old costume and leftover fabric. It was intense! We were able to pull it off and he is super excited – I can’t wait to share photos, stay tuned for those on Monday.

Tomorrow, our best friends are having a dinner party in their new home! I can’t wait to celebrate it with them! Then, on Sunday, the entire family is gathering at Morikami Japanese Gardens to celebrate the mister’s 40th birthday! The big 4-0! It should be a fun weekend packed with fun, friends and family – I am really looking forward to it. One of my favorite childhood activities was making forts with my cousin in our family room. We pretty much had it down to an art and could put together a mean fort in a matter of minutes. Every single blanket, sheet and sleeping bag we could find, coupled with a complex arrangement of furniture and sofa cushions would become a home, school, castle, pirate or rocket ship.
