Shift your Metabolism into High Gear with L-carnitine

Was one of your New Year’s Resolutions to live a healthy green lifestyle? Have you been having a hard time giving your metabolism a jump start? L-carnitine to the rescue. L-carnitine is an amino acid manufactured in the liver that helps to increase energy production in muscle cells, promoting fat loss. It also helps to increase good cholesterol while protecting the heart. L-carnitine is excellent at the prevention of fat oxidation and increases circulation in the brain, possibly preventing diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Do you want to add a little more L-carnitine to your diet? You can find it in wheat, avocado, fermented soy beans, fish and milk.

Do you get enough L-carnitine in your diet?

Have a Lovely Green Weekend + A Few Green Things

Hello Friends. Are you excited for a three day weekend? We are getting ready to leave for another family camping trip – this time to the west coast of Florida. I love our unplugged weekends at the beach, what a great way to reconnect without interruption. Nothing but sunshine, swimming and pictures of Eben’s smiling face.

While I pack my swimming suit, here are few things that I have been meaning to share with you.

Josh Groban sings Kanye West tweets made my morning.
– OMGoodess, Wouldn’t a Pug Jedi look fantastic hanging on Eben’s bedroom wall?
– Does this catchy tune, change your view on plastic bags?
– Would you wear these t-shirt couture creations?
Color Fast Street Art makes me smile.
– These miniature snowmen have me yearning for Colorado winters.
– Now, these are my type of mug shots!
– I would love this camera collection.
– Have you entered to win a cheeky pillow?
– There is still time to win lovely succulents.

I hope you have a lovely weekend full of everything you hold dear.
xo,
Sweet Greens

Super Food of the Week: Blueberries

Blueberries are an excellent super food because they are excellent at fighting free radicals. Free radicals are responsible for aging, tissue damage and possibly some diseases. Blueberries are great at slowing age related mental illnesses, lowering your chance of urinary tract infections and reducing your risk of cancers and heart disease. Not to mention, they are packed with antioxidants, phytonutrients, potassium and vitamin C. To get the biggest punch from blueberries, eat 1/2 cup each day.

My favorite way to get blueberries everyday is by adding them to a smoothie and sprinkling them on cereals and salads.

Do you love blueberries? How do you add them to your daily menu?

Soap Flakes

Do you use liquid or bar soap? Since soap bars are more concentrated and don’t come in a plastic bottle, they can be more Eco friendly. However, bars of soap can get slimy and slippery in the shower or if you don’t like sharing your bar soap with other people in the household, you need Soap Flakes.

Designer Nathalie Stämpfli created two different dispensers that turn block soap into little soap flakes. One version can be attached to a wall, the other can be held in your hands. Brilliant!

What do you think? Would you use soap flakes?
